Mike Vanderboegh was the very first to publish this issue and crusade for a complete investigation, quickly joined by David Codrea. They did it when it was a very risky thing to do, because the entire establishment, including the NRA, was either hostile or indifferent.

The NRA has a long history of waiting until the heavy lifting is done, then issuing press releases to take credit, sometimes to the detriment of the actual effort.

The NRA does a lot of good work, but they are a mainstream organization that waits until a movement becomes mainstream before they join it.
