Maybe that’s how it is in your neck of the woods; my conservative female friends and I have a traditional view of “who pays” for the first date. My liberal female friends will offer to split the costs with the man, so they are not indebted to him.

I do that when our gang goes out. No cheap stuff allowed. If the meal is $100, there’s 5 of us, everyone chips in the fair share. Heck, you could say we put the fairness’ in the fairness doctrine.
Nowadays, you go out on a date and women will check out how much you pay, unless you hear from them AT bill’ time. Back in univ., the lib girls I go out with that I paid for the entire tab, well, they return in kind’ for the night.
