Why the principal write down? Was there provable fraud and collusion between appraiser and lender? I'm not privy to the details of the issues at bar in this case but this particular attorney has a habit of holding his own quite well with the TBTF crowd and their parlor tricks.
He seems eager to argue this before a judge if he must.

I think so, considering the lender tells the appraiser the finance price. A real appraisal is done without knowledge of the amount being paid for the property.
