Somewhere around about 20 years ago, the fundamental concepts of trade and patriotism began to diverge.

Conservatives by and large have been and are, comfortable in our patriotism, so nobody questioned whether we could be wrong about something so basic to our very being.

Trade on the other hand, especially capitalism as we knew it then, had been the very weapon we had used, to defeat history's most powerful adversary any nation ever had confronted. The USSR. The mighty, and dangerous Soviet Union.

We stood down that danger, through the bravery of our men and women in uniform. But also with capitalism.

Unfortunately we then went into hibernation. Without an enemy to confront, we stopped paying attention. Somewhere along the way - that process by which we stood down the Soviet Union, became deployed against us.

But we were sleeping. Content in our patriotism, and our capitalism. Never questioning either.

Back to 20 years ago. Those two diverged. Capitalism, and patriotism.

They diverged, when "globalist" capitalists with no interest in keeping America the world's strongest, richest, most advanced wonder in human history - began making their own money, by directly hurting AMERICA's national interests. Sending factories to communists. Firing millions of working Americans. Exporting technology. Increasing the supply of angry democrat-voting unemployed.

It seems in hindsight, that 20 years ago as US conservatives unconsciously faced the fork in the road that divergence presented to Americans - far too many chose the wrong side, at that time. The side of those destroying the very things which made America so powerful and great. And now, seem determined to pretend we are not going the wrong direction. Pulling the pillow over their heads, to shut out that alarm.............

Unfortunately, the future of our nation, is the other way. The one - we are running lock-step in "free trade" groupthink denial away from...
