The thing about the Big Lie is that it can never be tackled directly, head-on. That’s part of what makes it so insidious.
The Big Lie tends to be comfortable and convenient. Rejecting the Big Lie tends to be uncomfortable, inconvenient, and sometimes outright dangerous. People tend to choose a nice falsehood over a difficult truth. They will seize on whatever is at hand to validate themselves in sticking to that falsehood, no matter how flimsy.
That’s not a particularly hard thing to do when they are surrounded by a media and by politicians offering countless excuses and rationales for accepting that lie. It gets to the point where if you reject the lie, you get marginalized and no one takes you seriously.
When it comes to Obama, we cannot afford to be marginalized. This man is dangerous and needs to be ousted from office. We’ve got him on the ropes - there is no need to throw a political haymaker when a simple hook should do, especially when that haymaker might very well provide an opening for a counterattack should it miss.
And the birth certificate has a very strong chance of missing, even if proven to be a forgery.
Interesting how the Murdoch scandal in Britain is bringing down police officials, Mayors, journalist. It was a culture of looking the other way. Same with Atlanta Schools cheating. When it falls it is big.
