DALLAS At least eight people were hurt when thousands of housing voucher applicants rushed the doors at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas, Texas.
An estimated 5,000 applicants waited for hours to receive applications for one of the 3,800 available vouchers. The waiting applicants became a frenzied stampede when officials opened doors to the housing voucher offices earlier than expected.

They could have had people fill out forms and then picked them at random like a raffle but instead they did this in the most publicity getting way they could. As I said, when the Dems do something, they always have a plan behind it. They also pulled the same stunt in Atlanta. I think they are trying to use this as propaganda about how there is so much homelessness and we need to build more and more housing. I think it also deliberately causes more demand from the “needy” community who can never be satisfied.
I agree, but I was only speaking practically, it would be very hard to do that but we need to start making some noise. Maybe our Republican “leaders” will listen.
he Dallas Housing Authority and the city of Plano each saw similar responses from the public in May when they took applications for the first time in years.
A lot of times people are shocked there are so many people who are low income and need assistance, Thompson said. Thats just the reality of the economy we are living in.
In Plano, 8,000 people applied for 100 available vouchers.
Sad and pretty damn scary.
".....And now, for my next impression......Jesse Owens!"
I was told of a woman in Texas that was on the section 8 program who spaced out her unwed children so she could participate in this program. She said it was a guarantee that she would never have to work. Her many boyfriends were left off the hook of supporting their children. I am a firm believer the children should be taken away & put up for adoption or put in foster care. That is the only way the children can get out of this mess by changing the environment and having a start at a new life.
I live in Texas in a rented duplex. Not the greatest neighborhood, but I’m paying my own way with two jobs. My wife is from New Hampshire, and wants us to move into section 8 housing so she can be near her mom. I balked at that idea and told her that it is simply not going to happen. I will NOT move my kids into a neighbood like that. We have a back yard, and a garage where we are right now. There is no way in the world that we will move to one of those places.
Thank you FDR and LBJ! FU__ing Libs. Caused this.
Maybe it’s the lure of the word FREEBY!
Disgusting!! BTW read the comments!
Me too—usually there is a trash can close by too.

Just wait until the gub'ment starts issuing "emergency food vouchers" if the predicted (by many) large scale food price inflation hits us.
It's gonna get ugly fast!
“There is a fairly large Section 8 apartment complex at the end of the road we live on.”
You don’t want to be living there when the economy collapses and the welfare checks don’t arrive. The parasitic entitlement class will turn your neighborhood into something out of a zombie horror movie.
I live next door to a complex that takes Section 8.
It’s fascinating to see the difference between my place where no gov’t assistance is accepted and the neighboring complex.
My place. Inexpensive newer Toyotas, Hyundais and older luxury cars — all well maintained by real mechanics. Section 8 complex. Giant pickups, old Buicks with huge rims and crotch rocket bikes. Many are in a general state of disrepair. Shirtless guys drink beers while failing to fix their vehicles.
My place. Everyone leaves for work by 8:30 am. Few return before 6pm. Section 8 place. Drinking parties outside all week. Unattended children running into the road. If it wasn’t for a couple seniors who keep watch on things, I’m pretty sure the section 8 folks would be robbing our apartments.
This is 25 miles outside a major metro area. ...and all the tenants of the section 8 building are white. Additionally, the rents are higher in the section 8 building since Uncle Sugar is paying.
Want to read a great book written by a welfare department insider? Get “The Backside of the Helping Hand” by Dan Edward “Moe” Johnson who was an inspector for the Indiana welfare bureau. There are lots of anecdotes of his many experiences investigating welfare fraud. Many of the stories are funny but he came to the conclusion that most of the people on welfare did not have to be on welfare, they just chose not to work.
Perhaps it would scan better with a “Dat” inserted between “Eliminate” and “Section” ?
Well, on that I will say, even though I’m an Apache, I’m also part white. That being said, I’ve seen a lot of white trash do that. Mostly real young types. I guess their big rebellion for their generation, is tossing a greedy mart big gulp out the window.
It’s from the F-U, lazy, narcissist generation. I always try to pick up what I can, but it’s pretty sickening when there are trash cans close by. Seeing baby diapers in parking lots, etc. really bothers me. I’d like to slap a shitty one in the parent’s face. There’s just no need to act and be like a third world pig.
