I will try to make this vanity post quick and to the point. As you will notice by looking at my profile, I am new to Free Republic. I have enjoyed reading all the articles posted at Free Republic for a few year now, and just recently jumped in to become an active member.
I am an evangelical young earth right wing conservative who has voted for every Republican presidential nominee going all the way back to Jerald Ford. Like many of you the internet has broadened my knowledge of the world around me. Then I found Free Republic and it seemed like a whole new world of knowledge has been presented to me that I was not getting anywhere else.
One thing I noticed at Free Republic, is that many Freepers have their own blogs, and they post portions of their articles here for other Freepers to read. I also noticed that many Freepers take offense to bloggers as they refer to them as blog pimps. However, I also noticed that not all bloggers are refereed to as blog pimps, and that is part of my question.
What exactly makes one a blog pimp and what makes one a respected blogger? Also, of all the bloggers who post their articles here, which Freeper bloggers are the best ones to follow?
I assume you voted for “Gerald Ford”, not “Jerald”.
Follow Laz!
There was a fellow around here back in the late nineties named OWK (One Who Knows). I met him at the March For Justice and expressed my appreciation for his writings. I don’t believe he’s around here anymore, though. More’s the pity, I loved reading his stuff.
Yes, my bad.
Most all of the posts that catch my attention seem to be posted by blam.
Only one person can answer blog questions.
Ping Humblegunner.
Wow thanks.
lol
I don't do it on purpose... it just seems to happen.
Welcome to FR.
Are you:
1. “evangelical young earth”
2. “young earth right wing”
Why not Mars or Venus?
I am confused.
I don’t think FreeRepublic is truly a ‘blog’. It’s a discussion forum. We don’t have our own ‘blogs’; we have “ping lists” or, as in my case ‘Snap list’ (Western Pa lingo as in ‘gumband snap’) or Joe Brower has the “Bang List” for his gun rights thread.
It depends on what you are interested in, KathyinAlaska hosts the ‘Freeper Canteen’ - honoring and supporting our troops. Sunkin Civ has the Archaeology ping list. There are too many to name.
Oh my.
This deserves serious thought and and a serious answer.
Self-ping to address this in the morning over coffee.
In a serious manner.
The questions are valid and deserve a better response than I can give at the moment.
Cogitating,
humblegunner
Young Earth? Is that what Mars calls it when it wants us to get off its lawn? Are we reminded by Saturn how it always walked to school uphill both ways, in the snow? Does Uranus keep telling Earth “when I was your age”?
Butterdezillion, little jeremiah, STARWISE, rxsid, fred nerks, FARS (runs Anti-Mullah a blog that reports on what is happening inside Iran), Beckwith (runs the Obama File, LucyT, JeanS, Jim Robinson, John Robinson, Kristinn (he is BRILLIANT and I am not exagerating, Las Vegas Ron, Red Steel... I pretty much pop my head out of the gopherhole any time I see something by these folks, and a lot of others. These are just a few that come to mind. I KNOW I missed a bunch of people, forgive me guys! I have 3 ten year old boys at the house for a two day stayover... I am a bit frazzled LOL :)
Good bloggers write their own material and post it in full on FR. Blogpimps instead excerpt their own material to get blog hits. Many of these pimps have numerous ads on their blogs and get paid per click. The pimps typically care more about getting hits for their blogs than about sharing info with FReepers. Some blogpimps have also been busted for plagiarism.
Those bloggers who don't needlessly exerpt their own work are not bothered and can become well respected.
