What you espouse is a tactic, not a defeat. I actually think it’s brilliant. However, imho, you should’ve said to quit celebrating it until we can celebrate it with it’s due honor.

If elections don’t seem to be doing the job then between elections we need to let those know, who make laws, that there are other ways of making our feelings known. Not celebrating the Fourth would make quite a imprint.

For those critiziing Nobama’s post. What are you fighting for if not the right to make the post? The 2nd isn’t always pretty, but it’s needed to advance everyone. There is no “settled” speech. Your treating him as though he’s on the left, when clearly he isn’t. I’m no fan of libertarians, they’re one abortion from not being among us, but I defend their right to speak.

“And yes, the republican party is currently the most responsive to the Tea Party - that the reason most got elected to the house the last cycle.”

Responsive ? In what way ?

If you haven’t noticed, the Republican party attacks Conservatives. Look at the grief Jim Demint, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Louie Gohmert, Marco Rubio, and Allen West takes from their own party.

I’d be hard pressed to call people like Boehner, McConnell, Grahamn, and McCain Republicans, let alone Conservatives.

I’m having my neighbors over on the 4th. Between the food and the fireworks, I’m going to bring them around to the flag out front and talk to them about what it means to be an American. My district has 8 delegates at the pubbie convention. I was the only one that showed up. The local pubbie club is nothing but clueless old ladies and slick lawyers being groomed for positions. They won’t even let people speak. I hope to get the numbers to change that. I’m also a Project Appleseed shoot boss. I volunteer to go out in the weather and teach people about the sacrifices made by those farmers and shopkeepers so we can have a third option-our civic duty. I don’t just post. This is to all on this thread. What will you do?

It’s funny. I’m a Libertarian who despises his fellow Libertarians and never votes Libertarian. (I only vote for Conservative Republicans. If none are present, I abstain. And there’s no way in he— I’m voting for Ron Paul.)

“However, imho, you should’ve said to quit celebrating it until we can celebrate it with it’s due honor.”

Yes, I dropped the ball and should have mentioned it this way.

Well, since you have your head in a dark place it is not surprising that you'd miss it.

If you haven’t noticed, the Republican party attacks Conservatives.

If you haven't noticed - there is extreme push back against these ESTABLISHMENT republicans. Yes Demint, Bachmann, et. al. are going to get flack from those on the left. But who voted the Demints, Bachmanns, Wests, Ribios into office this last round - the Tea Party.

I’d be hard pressed to call people like Boehner, McConnell, Grahamn, and McCain Republicans, let alone Conservatives.

Their days in the establishment are numbered if they don't figure out times have changed. Who's holding Boehner's feet to the fire - the Tea Party. Crawl out from under your rock and breathe some fresh air.

So just troll on over to the other site AN, there is a lot to celebrate this 4th - for a future where we've finally put these progressives and rinos to rest. And there is still the memory and recognition of those who have served this nation and are currently doing so. Go put your tail between your legs.

Someone else who gets it. You should be proud of what you’re doing.

(PS— Make sure you read my tagline.)

I say we get louder with the “4th of July” celebration, to rub their noses in it—as symbolism of this country’s “can do” spirit. Of our love and devotion to the Constitution and a free Republic. We need to immediately remove these traitors from our government, trashing our political traditions, dramatically reduce the size of government and adhere to the Constitution as it was intended.

Half the country is too worry about “Dances with the Stars”. Let the rest of the half take charge and return us to the Republic of our forefathers.

Yes, I said it. I'm not taking it back. The United States of America should no longer celebrate the Fourth of July.

Oh, really? Forgive me a smile at what I hope is a sin of rhetorical excess, but you don't have the right to decide that for the country. Decide for yourself if you like but as a fellow named Goldwyn said, include me out.

One of the things I'm celebrating is that a fellow such as yourself can make that sort of public statement without fear of recrimination (any worse than an Internet spanking). For free. To an audience of tens of thousands. That's what FR is. Don't you find in that even the tiniest thing to celebrate?

Let me be specific. Yesterday I finished my work, got in an automobile, and drove one hundred miles to my home. The government tells me how fast it intends me to drive. The government can go to hell, I make that decision. Halfway up I crossed the rez and stopped at a fireworks stand to purchase the wherewithal for a piece of my celebration. It's a stand called "Two Vets" and it's a shack in a field with Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps flags flying and one other, one for the tribe, containing a book and a cross and a feather. From a man I've known for years I purchased a package that the government says I cannot have. The government can go to hell, I make that decision. I shall celebrate the Fourth of July in the company of family on a little piece of land on a lake that is my home, and I shall drink beer and grill food and argue politics with my liberal relatives, and when it gets dark I'm going to light off stuff that would get me shunned by a horrified neighborhood in the city...or maybe not. They might just like it, you know. And the government can go to hell.

So that's what I'm celebrating: the ability to tell the government to go to hell. The government is not America, I am America. And anyone who thinks otherwise had better cover his ears when the fireworks go off. This thing could yet come to violence but you know what? If it does I like our chances. That's what I'm celebrating. If you want to be a part of this, FRiend, you'd better start figuring out what you're for, because knowing what you're against isn't enough. God bless America, and have a happy Independence Day.

“Half the country is too worry about ‘Dances with the Stars’. Let the rest of the half take charge and return us to the Republic of our forefathers.”

Exactly.

You have a point about rubbing the Left’s nose in it as well.

Of course it was rhetorical.

“And the government can go to hell.”

In short, that’s what I’m saying.

You are right. You are walking the walk, doing the hard work.

People are irritated at Nobama because he’s tedious and self-indulgent.

He notes that there are many grave problems in the country and tries to style himself as wonderfully clever by pretending to suggest that we all bow our heads, don our hair shirts and never again smile or raise a flag or light a firecracker or barbecue a pig until the slate is cleaned and the Republic is saved.

This is the silly old technique of a worn-out college professor who posits something upsetting or outrageous before his class and thinks himself greatly witty at the reaction he draws.

“You definitely got what I wrote,” he congratulates one of us. To another he says coyly, “There may be some who call me a troll or Paulista...careful.”

Careful of what? Those of us too stupid to grasp his methods?

What a silly sense of superiority.

What is actually difficult and meaningful is to DO something to make Independence Day special, and to make the Republic a better place once more. Or even to WRITE something here that describes one’s own passion or hopes or plans for the battle ahead.

Do you think Patton went before his troops and said, “Well, the Krauts are kicking the crap out of us and the other generals are no damn good and I have my doubts about you men too...but get out there and try to fight like you mean it!”

No. He did his homework, he led, fought and won.

That’s what we all have to do too.

"Well, China is more capitalist than we are....."

That's an error. Over 150,000 businesses and all of the banks in China are state-owned. But yes, too many Americans in business nowadays do prefer to collaborate with communists against us.

Ummm....I did my homework, too.

“Folks, the only way to reverse this trend is by electing Conservatives. Moderates won’t get the job done. Cooperation with the Authoritarian Left won’t get it done. The only thing that will save the Republic is a return to its Constitutional, Judeo-Christian, and Rugged Individualist values. We need to elect individuals who will stand up to the bougerois socialists in the media and in Hollywood with an extended middle finger. What we need is individuals who live and breathe the Constitution, not fingersniffers who believe in a ‘living and breathing’ Constitution. In other words, we need the exact opposite of what we have now.”

Never sucumb to this? Look around you, its right in front of your face. The idea of liberty has shrunk in the face of the notion that all outcomes should be equal. Responsibility for oneself exists within a minority of the US citizens while the majority are constantly looking to see what the country owes them. The vote of the people and the duly elected legislature carries little wait in the face of a federal judiciary that routinely tells us to take our votes and shove them up our asses because the judge has discovered some right that has not been found by anyone else during the past 220 plus years. The losses in the courts by our side with the U Michigan decision, the striking of the Kansas and South Dakota abortion laws and they new right of Congress to FORCE US TO PURCHASE goods against our will is as agregious a snuffing of liberty as I’ve seen. Combine that with the Kelo decision some years ago and any clear thinking person can see your personal liberty is only as inalienable as a federal judge deems it to be on a whim or until it gets in the way of some agenda that single individual has.

Rah, rah all you want this 4th and ignore the wolf at the doorstep, but its no longer a celebration of the present but rather a distant, quickly fading past.
