Thanks. It’s more of a rant than an explanation but it’s the straight up truth.
John Kerry testified to Congress that there would be no bloodbath if the US withdrew. The New York Times said Indochina would be better off if the Americans left.
After the communists took over in Vietnam and Cambodia and millions were killed or put in re-education camps or drowned in the South China Sea trying to escape there was no apology from the liberals. They never said “oops, our bad.”
In fact, they doubled down on the propaganda. For example, millions of Americans today believe that JFK wanted to pull out of Vietnam and was killed in a conspiracy by LBJ in order to stay in Vietnam. It’s a ridiculous lie, but they’ve seen it with their own eyes in the Hollywood movie “JFK.” Of course there are lots of other examples.
I'll give you my own rant. Trying to explain how the end result of actions by our political left has been the deaths of millions and impoverishment and misery of tens of millions more is an exercise not unlike beating ones head against the wall. All that they touch with their supposed do gooding generally results in catastrophe.
The examples are so numerous. I was taking a hazmat chemistry class a couple of weeks ago. The teacher showed us the chemical formula for DDT. Everyone in the class was aghast at the evil of the substance. This is despite the fact that DDT is one the most effective and one of the least dangerous pesticides ever discovered. My wife has pristine uniforms that were treated with DDT decades ago. We won't have them cleaned because there is nothing more effective for long term moth control. Banning DDT caused a resurgence in insect born diseases that have caused horrible suffering and the deaths millions of people mostly children in third world countries. This doesn't even take into account the thousands more who have been injured or killed by the misuse of the far more hazardous pesticides that replaced DDT.
Then we have this global warming scam that has diverted millions of acres of productive farm lands to producing biomass, mostly corn for alcohol production. Even Al Gore admits this has been a waste. This operation costs billions in taxpayer subsidies wastes billions of gallons of fresh water, and consumes more energy than the alcohol produced contains. Worst of all the resulting shortage of grain has doubled the price which results in increasing starvation and misery to vulnerable populations in third world countries.
I could go on and on. Socialism and Communism have resulted in the deaths of untold millions of human beings and increased poverty, misery and wasted the potential of billions more lives. Yet they continue to be able to spread their propaganda with impunity and suppress the truth about the results of their actions. I am hopeful that the pendulum will swing back and common sense will once again prevail. Unfortunately we seem to still be on the wrong path.
