Paul

I'm no fan of Ron Paul, but the fact that he voted against this indicates something else was going on here.

The update I got from my congressman who voted against it says that it was a deceptive bill that would only defund UAV strikes which would likely be funded through some other bill.

There was. From what I have seen, if they voted yes, it would fund the conflict up to a certain point. If they voted no, it would fund everything. Neither option would strip funding.

And from what most of the conservatives have been saying, they felt that it was not Congress’ job to determine how the troops are used by only funding up to a certain point, limiting the Executive and military’s Constitutional authority.

If all of that is true, then I cant believe that a bill that dumb was brought forward. Its like the stupid “vacation compromise” commercial I hear where the husband wants to go to Miami and the wife wants to go to Virginia, so they compromise by going to Myrtle Beach because it is in the middle. Thats not a compromise, its just a third option that no one really wanted to begin with.
