God is incapable of allowing us in His presence in our sinful state. That is why he became a man and suffered the pain of sin that we might be reconciled to Him. We literally hide in Christ in God's presence. The old hymn about hiding in the cleft of the rock speaks to this.
Christ's forgiveness through His blood removes the sin from our lives and makes it possible for us to be reconciled to our Father.
To be capable of forgiveness, however, we must be utterly humiliated by our sin and kneel, trembling before the mighty and powerful God.
God hates our sin. While we are in this sinful state we receive the glare of His hatred, hence, we are all sinners in the hands of an angry God.
