The first thing you thought to ask was: Why didnt the media ask for e-mails from Barack Obama from the days when he was an Illinois state senator? Or from Hillary Clinton when she was First Lady?
For that matter, why havent they asked for e-mails from the governorships of Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty? Or congressional e-mails from Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachmann?
But of course, these would be rhetorical questions, because you know the answer perfectly well. The media asked for Sarah Palins e-mails because they are on a search-and-destroy mission to find something damaging about her, and only her. No one bought it when they tried to hang blood libel and Paul Revere on her, or when they tried to blame her for the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords. And even though they want to carp long and loud about death panels, they have to be careful because a lot of them are fully aware of the fact that Palin was correct about that too.
So . . . to the e-mails! Surely that would provide something definitive to demonstrate that Palin is an incompetent moron.
Oops.
All the headlines offered by the egg-on-face media tell us that the e-mails were full of mundane, day-to-day governing stuff, but held no bombshells or major embarrassments.
Now, what does that tell us about what they consider to be news?
Youve got 24,900 e-mails, many of which contain Palins correspondence in the course of governing her state. Thats not news. But if she said something idiotic, shallow or religious, that would be news?
Presumably the reason the media cared about the e-mails at all was that Palin might run for president, or at least they think she might. So why not give us a series of stories on the policies Palin implemented in Alaska? Wouldnt that give us a lot of valuable insight about the kind of president she might be, if she decided to run? What could possibly be more relevant than that?
Oh. Right. Gaffes, bombshells and slip-ups. Certainly not the substantive details of how she governed.
This sorry exercise tells us more about the media than it does about Palin, although it appears the e-mails demonstrate a fair amount about Palin being engaged in the day-to-day details about governing, serious about budget-cutting and on top of the states operations.
What it tells us about the media, though, confirms the sad spectacle of Monday night, when CNN hosted a presidential debate peppered with this or that questions like BlackBerry or iPhone? and Elvis or Johnny Cash? The media have completely lost all concept what it means to cover the serious governing of the nation. They know nothing but the horse-race aspect of politics and elections, and any question that reflects on a candidate, however trivial and idiotic, seems appropriate to them as long as it doesnt require them to understand anything about what the person would actually do in office.
By the way, youll note that Palin was not present at the debate, as she has never indicated she is running for president, which will no doubt come as a surprise to the people who obsess on a daily basis about her presidential credentials. Palin is a private citizen who is not currently seeking public office, and yet the entire national news media put their lives on hold last week to troll through her old e-mails not looking to understand anything about how she governed, since thats boring, but desperately seeking a blunder of some sort, and wringing their hands bitterly over finding none.
And these are the same people who tell us Palin is stupid.
of course they aren’t news...which is why Palin takes “media” into her own hands and the MOVIE “UNDEFEATED” will be released! (and hopefully go VIRAL)
I am praying for that. VIRAL dissemination of Palin’s movie “The Undefeated”
The evidence gives them nothing to talk about.
It’s not news because there is absolutely no chance she’ll win if she runs. /S
Careful what I wish for..........
When Sarah appeard on the scene, I was SO enthralled that I wished for a Sarah Palin channel on cable.......
Not far from it huh? I’M LOVING IT. I can not get enough Sarah! She’s the founding Mother and gives me goosebumps.
just think...you will have the movie in theaters, then DVD release, then youtube videos etc. the undefeated will be “inplay” for months...
I agree with your point, but don’t know about including Nixon in that summation.
He hammered their Commie asses to the wall during the HUAC hearings, and the anti-American ba$tards got their revenge on him in typical, cowardly thug, gang-style with the then monopoly LeftMedia leading the way.
At the height of it, the level of distorted vilification had Richard Nixon approaching the level of Adolph Hitler, but not of course Red heroes Stalin and Mao.
If the emails were bad for Palin, they would have been treated news by the communists who run our media.
If the emails are good for Palin, the communists who run our media want to bury them.
“Duhh, I’m a communist and my ideology sucks.”
