A bipartisan group of House members announced on Wednesday that it is filing a lawsuit charging that President Obama made an illegal end-run around Congress when he approved U.S military action against Libya.
With regard to the war in Libya, we believe that the law was violated. We have asked the courts to move to protect the American people from the results of these illegal policies, said Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who led the 10-member anti-war coalition with Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.).
The White House is expected on Wednesday to deliver to Congress a much-anticipated report detailing military activity in Libya.
According to Kucinich, the suit will challenge the Obama administrations circumvention of Congress and its use of international organizations such as the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to authorize the use of military force abroad.

Funny.
I guess even the democrats aren’t buying the NON war it is kinetic and that NATO is running it we are out.
Yes it is...this will go nowhere fast. But shines a light on it for those not in the know.
No Standing.
Wow I thought this was huge headlining news and it was moved to bloggers. Odd.Oh well.
Congress has no standing to get involved in a war? Why doesn’t Obama just dismiss Congress?
Even this law is questionable in that it allows executive to start a war without a declaraion of war. This has been a perversion of the founding laws for several score years now.
In the continued slide of lawlessness, this congressional law is now ignored by the executive. This makes him a criminal, just like most of the DC gangsters. They have made a mockery of clear intent of the foundation law for a long time.
We were already fighting the Mexican-American War quite a while before its declaration. The President needs some flexibility as Commander In Chief to protect our country and our interests, but his ability to unilaterally commit us to a prolonged war is checked.
It's funny, liberals complained Bush believed in the supremacy of the executive branch, called him an autocrat and wanna-be king. But in his eight years Bush never dared to go as far as Obama already has.
