Mark Steyn: Cowed by udderly insane regulations
OC Register ^ | May 27, 2011 | Mary Steyn

Cass Sunstein is head of something called the "Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs." I've seen enough conspiracy thrillers to know that when someone has so obvious a blandly amorphous federal job description as that it means he's running some deeply sinister wet-work operation of illegal targeted assassinations in unfriendly nations that the government spooks want to keep off the books and far from prying eyes.

HOORAY Mark! Cass Sunstein ALERT!

Socialism/Totalitarianism

Terminate totalitarian regulations/mandates. Reduce federalism and mini-me state federalism by 1/2. 1/2 pay, zero benefits in part-time federal and state legislatures.

Defund ALL socialist collectives foreign/domestic/corporate. The U.S.A. becomes financially solvent and we become very low-taxed prosperous/productive citizens in a country which acts as a beacon for individual liberty.

We gave the GOP a shot at it by giving them control of the House and the pursestrings. Look what we got. More of the same. After the upcoming 2012 debacle I hope some people finally wake up and join the Libertarians.

So instead of treating milk as an oil, subject to industry standards for disposal of toxic spills, they now classify milk as a dangerous substance requiring substantial processing to be fit for human consumption.

Yes. I am inclined to agree that the only way we can restore Liberty to America is by throwing everyone out of DC and establishing strict term limits and low congressional salaries.

Could one of the Mods please correct the author? It’s Mark Steyn, not Mary Steyn.

JLS, please add this to your ping list.

I am not thrilled with the outcome in the first 5 months, but it is eons and eons better than what we endured the 2 previous years....and frankly better than we saw the last few years of the bush years. The GOP has taken firm stances on low taxes, presented significant entitlement reform to 2 of the 3 major entitlement programs that are devouring our country, and put a dead stop to the insanity of the Obama agenda.

We can’t expect miracles from a House majority and sentate minority with a commie president. I am also pleased that we have many voices in the senate now....Lee, Rubio, Johnson, Paul (sometimes), Toomey and more, whereas we had basically a single voice of reason in DeMint in the past few years. We are on the road to a much more representative governing body. No one thought the tea party had completed their mission in 2010. It was always going to take 2-3 election cycles. Our biggest challenge is the battle against the DC establishment and keeping the voters in our corner.

Good article - lousy formatting and presentation. There is no reason why the OC Register needed to split it into four pages and split paragraphs with advertisements. It would be like taking an editorial and putting it on pages A15, B3, B14 and a little bit on the last page of the Home Depot ad.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find another website with this article yet.

I do wonder if there has been a problem with dairy farmers dumping excess milk, especially when dealing with government production quotas if they cows produce more than they can legally sell. Have they just dumped the excess into rivers either intentionally or by "accidentally" opening a valve? I would hate to be down stream from where thousands of gallons of now rotting milk was released.

The House has to approve 100% of all spending. All spending at this point is GOP spending. They can put a dead stop to it if they want to. What you seem to be saying is that a firing squad is better than being poisoned. Both ways you are dead.
