Shes become the P.T. Barnum of politics. Shes the ringmaster of a political media circus who commands attention wherever she goes. Next week Palinpalooza kicks off another round of frenzy and speculation.
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? That is the Palin paradox.
With pundits and the public atwitter, Palin begins her One Nation tour this weekend at the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally in Washington aboard a shiny new cross-country coach boldly emblazoned: One Nation. Under God. Indivisible. With Liberty and Justice for All. Next week, iconic images of Palin on a hawg will light up the Internet. It will be like Caesar on a chariot with six white horses.
For the media, she is like crack, especially for those who criticize her the most. The thoroughly addicted Chris Matthews offers: [O]f course I want her to run, in the worst way...
And her opponents dismiss her, but at their own peril. A Republican adviser close to front-runner Mitt Romney scoffs, [S]hes kind of an entertainer... If Mitt had a little entertainer in him, he might be leaving the pack behind.
While it's uncertain what Palin will do, this much we know. She will not be ignored. And if Palin doesn't run, you can bet she begins calling in plays from the sidelines. It's hard to see her endorsing Bachmann, but it's not hard to imagine her anointing Rick Perry, with whom she is close and shares a political base and anti-Washington populism.
This supposedly boring GOP field may be about to get pretty entertaining. Palin, Bachmann, Rick Perry, and Cain battling for the same space? Look out, folks. Here comes the circus. And right now, the ringmaster is calling the shots.

What a little wussy. Lets all tear down our own shall we. The sooner we all figure out that the “middle” is not our friend the better. middle = left
Look folks, it is all quite simple. POTUS Barack Hussein Obama is toast in the real world no matter how the media spin for him. Basics are” “It’s the economy stupid!!!” & jobs, jobs, jobs, and ten thousand other failures that doom him. So....of course the GOP quest for the POTUS Nomination is going to be a three ring circus. But.....at the end of the day, the GOP wins the POTUS in 2012, no matter who the nominee is. The smart dudes, gals & the money knows this. Only the the idiot adoring “Obama” media is fighting for the Obama re-election!!! Of course there is still time for the Democrat Party to force Obama to resign or get him to declare that he is not running which would be the smart move for them, because when Obama goes down, he takes a good portion of the Democrat Party with him. Methinks, Bill & Hillary Clinton see the handwriting on the wall and are fully poised for their “moment” of opportunity. As for the “Obama loving Media”, they would be wise to broom Obama, the sooner the better for them!!! No one that is sane believes a word or statement they utter!!!
The media is NEVER going to abandon Obama..they created him, they are the ones that made a deal with him in Jan 2008 to make sure he was elected President..if it wasn’t for the media Obama would NEVER have won..Obama would be on a no-fly list with all of his terrorist associations but the media always made excuses for him..because they were invested in him becoming President..they made some kind of deal, the “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” kinda deal..Obama has horrible internal polling, its very obvious..that is why he has his press butt buddies going out and trying to Alinsky every single one of them he knows can beat him..the ones he knows HE can beat(Romney) he will have the media kiss their behind..watch very closely, the candidate the media kisses up to is the one that they know Obama can beat
Who is this fool, Mark McKinnon? Does he think his pathetic attempts to ridicule with the circus analogy are working?
Exactly right.
Exactly right.
“at the end of the day, the GOP wins the POTUS in 2012, no matter who the nominee is.”
I do not believe your statement is true at all. There are plenty of progressive republicans who could and would lose to Obama should they be nominated.
Isn’t MacKinnon (GOP) one of those who organized some “let’s all get along” political group?
Palin excel at retail politics
I remember when people wanted Obama to run. In a normal world, the man was so inexperienced and had such an underperforming history he should NEVER have won. But I knew he was dangerous, and kept warning folks, you don’t want him running.
The media put him in. How this country was so schizophrenic they could believe someone who put herself through school, was a mayor, a governor and sat on an energy board could possibly have less experience (which the MSM hit on constantly) than a community organizer who failed and left every small job he ever had, is beyond me.
I remember Juan Williams insisting on Fox Obama was experienced because he ran a presidential campaign! They guffawed at that, but they aren’t now, after two years of total incompetence.
Now the press hates Sarah, while it fawned over Obama, so that is a handicap. But she’s learned pretty good how to play them. Watch, she won’t declare until the last minute. It will make them nuts.
Yes, McKinnon is one of the founders of “No Labels.” He was the McCain advisor who quit the McCain campaign because he (McKinnon) would not have anything to do with criticizing Obama (not that McCain did either really). He is a consumate inside the beltway wuss.
Given that, it’s not nearly as bad an article as I would have imagined from him and the Daily Beast. A bit flippant, but not nearly as awful as some other stuff in the Beast will be.
Not only that, but she’s driving half the posters on Free Republic nuts too! As if you haven’t noticed ;-)
Lots of folks here ought to be heading for the track if their ability to predict winners is as good as they think it is.
In short, Barnum is not a bad role model for a Republican politician that wants to help her country out.

Palin? Remind me again why we do not like Romney?
Yes, it is called No Lables. Supposedly, it is a group of DemonRATs and RINOs who want to part the political waters between both parties. The only trouble is that this group is mostly DemonRATs who want to make money and use it to neuterize the conservative cause. This Mark McKinnon is a toxic bag of subversion. Here is Rush’s take on No Lables:
“Mark McKinnon ran Bush 43’s media. Now, as you know, Mark McKinnon is one of the architects of the new No Labels bunch, which the No Labels crowd is a bunch of disaffected liberals, and they know that being called “liberals” is the kiss of death. It’s a losing thing to be called “liberal.”
So No Labels, these are people (sniveling), “Can’t we...? Can’t we just...? Can’t we just talk to each other as human beings and stop categorizing ourselves, ‘cause we’re really holding ourselves back?” McKinnon was on MSNBC today on Scarborough’s show and Willie Geist asked him a question about amnesty. He said, “It’s gonna come up on the presidential election. It’s been on the back burner lately but it’ll start to rise to the surface. We saw it yesterday, the politics of it now coming out; the president courting Hispanic voters. You made a point, Mark, that as a Republican we can stay on this path and watch demographics and the country run away from us.” I don’t know what the question is. I don’t know what it means. But McKinnon did and here was his answer?
MCKINNON: In 2000 when President Bush ran, we realized that in order to win — and assuming we got all the sort of typical votes that we got — we had to get 40% or 41% of the Hispanic vote, which he got. Four years later we realized fairly early on if he got the exact same number of Hispanics we would lose because of the growing demographic. We had to get 43%, and President Bush got 44. John McCain got 29% of the Hispanic vote. Republicans are not gonna regain the presidency on that kind of a path.”
“Okay. So you see how the No Labels group is...talking about “the Hispanics.” Is Hispanics not a label? Certainly is in political context. But here you see: The Republicans simply can’t win without them. This is the No Labels group advocating for Republicans to get on board with immigration “reform.” Now, I guarantee you what’s gonna happen with this. Above all, above all the other substance — and don’t doubt me on this — supporters of this from all over spectrum (both parties, wherever they come from) are going to bend over backwards to make sure this is not called “amnesty,” even if they have to put things in this bill that directly contradict amnesty. They know that that word will kill it.”
“That’s what to look out for: Anything to avoid that label.”
Another historical 4 ‘horses’ but on on the political field. Together they could make interesting history for the USA. Someones got to be the quarterback, maybe Palin.
