"..It is not new censorship..."

Yep, same old censorship. Might as well get a job at NSA to be able to check your e-mail.

I would seriously expect that Obama will wield dictatorial control over the Internet during the next election and especially if he is re-elected. Under a second Obama term the only source of uncensored news will be by shortwave radio from beyond the Obama curtain.

“the bill is merely an extension of existing authority. It is not new censorship.”

When “they” think it is neccessary to make a statement like that you can bet your butt that whatever they have said is opposite of the truth.

Internet control was one of many things discussed at the G-8 summit this week.

We have “too much freedom” with wide open, able to say what we please about anything, internet access.
“They” feel the need to control us.

I’m seeing late 1700’s France in our future.

This new law will counter this by allowing the government to block access to offshore websites.

Nice Chi-Com ring to that, John.

Look for it to go into a court challenge.

Hope it doesn’t pass the House, but unfortunately, pimping for the RIAA and controlling the Internet is usually bipartisan.

What is this bit about ‘extending’ existing law? To me Leahy has always been a snake in the grass politician. Presumably laws are passed to cover a situation without unduly restricting acceptable citizen acts. Leahy apparently believes there is no boundry for acceptable acts by citizens. And this guy gets elected from the part of the Nation that was gung-ho for individual rights and liberties when this Nation was founded. Somethings changed, at least in New England or maybe Leahy wants an old England USA.

“the bill is merely an extension of existing authority. It is not new censorship.”

Then why do you think it's necessary?
