A "good moral life" won't get a "good" person who spurns God's offer of full pardon through faith in His Son's blood atonement even a minute off his or her sentence of eternal punishment. Jesus didn't die to make us good moral people, although we certainly should be if we profess to be Christians. He died in our place to atone for our sin, and His perfect righteousness is put to our account by faith in Him alone, not by any good works that we can do.
Ro 10:9 "If thou shalt confess the Lord Jesus with thy mouth,(IOW accept Him as Master over your life) and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved".
