Which never made sense to me. Mombasa is clear on the other side of the country from the village the Obamas live in. The nearest large town is Kisumu, 30 miles away. The nearest city is Nairobi, 230 miles away, while Mombasa 435 miles away, is twice as far. Why Mombasa?

I personally am not of the opinion that Obama was born in Kenya...I tend to think in a more temperate climate in the Pacific NW.
Think 1961 and airport or passenger ship.
In one of his radio interviews Corsi said that when Ann arrived in Kenya pregnant and tried and failed to get “accepted” by the family, Mama Sarah sent Ann to Mombasa where Sarah had brothers and sisters and Ann stayed there with them until Barry arrived.
