Anyone can see that there is a concerted effort by Ron Paul supporters to attack Herman Cain. The reason is obvious: Herman Cain's performance in the South Carolina debate sucked the oxygen out of the Ron Paul campaign. Paul--a fringe candidate at best--was depending heavily on making a show in the SC debate to drum up early enthusiasm (and donations) for his 2012 run.
But an unexpected thing happened in the debate. Herman Cain not only won the debate, he dominated it. Ron Paul was reduced to making the most outrageous statments he could think of in an attempt to garner any attention what so ever (calling for the legalization of not just marijuana, but heroin). Ron Paul came away from the SC debate empty handed, and if things don't change that's how Paul will come away from future debates as well. As of now, it looks like the 2012 Ron Paul campaign is (like Newt Gingrich's) DOA.
Any YouTube, news story comment section, or internet forum making any mention of Herman Cain was suddenly flooded with anti-Cain posts. This was no accident. Just spend a little time on any Ron Paul forum and you'll see they're talking about two things: (1) how to support Ron Paul, and (2) how to destroy Herman Cain.
The plan seems to be to highlight Herman Cain's time with the Federal Reserve Bank; portraying it as an evil institution bent on taking over the world along with its Illuminati masters (and no, I'm not being sarcastic; I've seen a number of these posts mention both the Federal Reserve and the Illuminati).
Now for the typical Ron Paul supporter (as well as the fans of George Noory's "Coast to Coast" radio show) this is a powerful argument. But to non-Paul supporters (the 99.8657% of Americans who don't know the correct procedure for folding a tin-foil hat), it doesn't come across as negative at all. In fact, it comes across as a huge positive for Herman Cain.
Without the (unintended) help of Ron Paul's supporters, Herman Cain would still be fighting the stereotype that he's just a "pizza man." But now, he's know across the internet as an expert on the Federal Reserve System, the nation's money supply, macro-economics, and national/international finance. Given that the biggest challenges facing the next president will be financial, this kind of knowlege and experience will be a huge plus for any candidate--again, at lest in the minds most voters (the 99.8657% of voters that are not Ron Paul supporters).
Are the attacks on Herman Cain by Ron Paul supporters actually helping Cain? Yes they are, because they have exposed something about Herman Cain to the public that most people didn't know about--that he has an impressive background at the highest level of fianance.
Herman Cain could be the one. He might just be the next Ronald Reagan.
Not at the moment perhaps. As he gains more recognition, you can bet that the Liberal character assassination squad will go into overdrive.
What really got my attention was a comment he made "It's okay. I'm not hyphenated". Which told me that he understands that he is an American before anything else. He also underscored the idea that he wants to win due to the merit of his ideas. I have no doubt that he was proud to be an American well before Michelle Obama.
You have presented a list of real qualifications; the more I hear about him, the more I like him.
Magnificent fanny??? Weird.
Forget her fanny. Consider the qualifications and success and national appeal of Cain. This man has the ability to lead and unite...first in the primaries, then the election, finally as President and Commander in Chief!
Executive Experience waiting to turn things around! God as his Counselor desiring to save this country and her relationship with Israel !!
No doubt the Fed attack has backfired - but I have a theory on the real reason for that attacks, besides the mindless obsession with the Fed. Cain, who they always thought would finish behind their man, was moving on up (to the East Side?). They were doing all they could to drag him down so they wouldn’t finish last.
I think they’ve given up now.
Not to worry Ron Pwaul will finish at the bottom of this race as expected.
Ron Paul is only hurting himself, much as Flukie Newt did so fatally. Ron Paul is no gentleman, thus absolutely not presidential material!
The Herman Cain rally will be at Centennial Olympic Park right across the street from CNN headquarters.
CNN employees can either look out the windows or cross the street to see the rally, but probably they’ll just ignore the announcement.
amen !
Mr.Cain has already revealed that he has a very important thing in common with President Reagan - a clear vision of how unique and incredible America truly is.
Waiting for the first Democrat to say 'inauthentic': that's when we'll know he's got their attention.
Herman Cain forever. LRon Paul never.
Where are these attacks by Ron Paul supporters on Herman Cain? This is not the first time I’ve heard it, so I’m not saying there isn’t anything there, but I’d like a link to a FR thread where Ron Paul supporters are attacking Herman Cain.
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but as likely a scenario is someone trying to get Conservatives mad at each each. Someone else wants the Conservatives at each others throats.
I happen to be a Ron Paul supporter. I also like Palin, Bachmann and Cain. Most of the rest are RINOs.
Ron Paul will do well. There are guys running who will do worse.
Ron Paul, last time, did better than a lot of guys who ran last year. Did better than Hunter, Thompson, Tancredo, Giuliani, Thompson, Brownback, Gilmore. Didn’t do as well as McCain, Romney, Huckabee. And these results came when he started as an unknown. This time around, he’s in 4th place, like he was last time, with Palin, Romney, Gingrich ahead. That’s the current poll numbers, roughly.
Cain will likely be moving up in the polls based on the reaction to his debate performance. They say Gingrich hurt himself, so you could see him falling in the polls. Bachmann is moving up a bit too.
You should see all the nasty stuff the Paultards say about Cain on their websites. They really do think he is a major threat because he is leveraging the internet like they thought they had cornered the market in.
The Paultards don’t know the difference between the Federal Reserve chairman and what the regional Federal Reserve (which Cain was a CEO of) do. The latter has absolutely nothing to do with monetary policy or ‘printing’- it helps banks ensure checks clear and works with transferring money between banks. They just see Fed and piss in their pants. (Notice they never call for an audit of the Treasury Department- where the real power lays?- the Fed is an easier bogeyman).
The fact that Cain was the Chairman of the Kansas City Fed is certainly a very noteworthy part of Cain’s resume. Ron Paul’s people definitely don’t like that resume bullet. A lot of people don’t. But, definitely, there are some that do. Establishment Republicans would most certainly look at that as a prime Establishment position, that “dumb people” - as Liberals see Palin - simply do not get.
If you’re talking to someone who is not a Conservative, but is a liberal, Northeastern, country club, business Republicans, and you want to sell Cain, you want to put “Chair of the Kansas City Fed” right up front. The Fed is elite. You don’t have to be elite to run a pizza shop. But if the Fed trusts you, you have the elite stamp of approval.
And a lot of elitist, Mike Castle type Republicans do love those elite credentials. Cain had more “elite” vetting than Obamas resume seems to indicate.
Cain really can’t mention this Fed Cred to Conservatives as many are distrustful of the Fed.
I never said you were if you weren't, I was addressing the specific article. Also, regarding the TARP bailouts, Cain was an outspoken critic of them when they happened. There is major internet spin about one commentary he made about one small aspect of what became TARP that is making him look like he supported them. He was a very vocal critic on his radio show of TARP.
