This is more than falling short of an adequate description. To say that Jesus didn't actually die on the cross is heretical.

"I don’t want to go out on a limb to the point of saying that individuals can’t put an efficacious personal salvation trust in Jesus Christ while not quite understanding how Jesus Christ worked it."

You wouldn't be going out on a limb. God gave His Son to die for us. His death and resurrection takes away all our sins. And it is the Holy Spirit working within us, giving us the faith that works within us, that brings us to salvation. One cannot "put an efficacious personal salvation trust in Jesus Christ". It comes from the Holy Spirit, and we have to recognize and accept it. We cannot save ourselves. It's already been accomplished. Either we accept it and become believers in Christ, or we will die a sinner.

I most respectfully fear this is the road into constructing a puppet out of a framework of ideas and calling that your “Jesus Christ” — without having actually met the Lord.
