It is for bloggers to post their content and then answer/discuss said content. The problems come when a blogger posts a short exerpt to drive hits to their blogs. If you are the original writer, there is no reason to post an exerpt. If the content that you post here on FR is good, people will follow the links back to your blog.
As you know, FR gets lots of traffic and blog pimps have been known to try to peel off even a small percentage to drive their own hit count.
Please. Who in the world is forced to click on a link or read an article?
I don’t want to click on a thread and have this huge article load before I’ve even decided FOR MYSELF if I want to read it or not.
Who cares WHO posts the article? If it’s worth reading and of interest to freepers, it will get read. If not, it won’t.
Apart from truly abusive posters (spam), we don’t need “rules” or “blog overlords” to protect us from links we don’t want to click on.
Stop me before I click on a blog again! FreeRepublic might not survive is any freepers “peel off” to read BLOGS (whatever those are these days)!
If Mark Steyn came here and, using his own name, posted a link and an excerpt to a post on his blog, do youse guys mean to tell me you would say he has absolutely nothing to say, he just wants to drive hits?
This is all crazy and lame.
