Do you really believe that any elected person can prevent this country from falling off the economic precipice? Yes, if they're given the tools to do so. It's not likely, but it is possible -- cut taxes and regulation, get the government out of the way of the economy and stop spending like drunken sailors (apologies to drunken sailors for the comparison). It's all do-able, it just takes the will to actually do it.
