Huntsman's "Patriotism over Politics" Wont Work
Pundit Press ^ | 5/7/2011 | Timothy Knight

Ambassador Jon Huntsman Jr., who appears more and more likely to run for the Republican Nomination in next year's Presidential election, attempted to portray his recent service as America's appointed representative to China as ideal patriotism of putting one's own country over party politics.

Somehow, I don't think this is 1964.

The last time Republicans realistically considered a candidate who served in the administration of an Democrat was Henry Cabot Lodge, who was beloved for his heroism and patriotism through numerous diplomatic, and legislative positions; not to mention his honorable military service during World War Two.

Does anyone think Huntsman can be compared to Lodge, or Lodge's time?

Not a chance in hell.

While the former Governor of Utah, and Ambassador deserves recognition for once again serving his country overseas in Asia, there's no way he will be able to convince Conservative rank-and-file that serving Obama is patriotic in anyway.

Huntsman has absolutely nothing going for him at all. Nothing. He is a leftist. He is Obama’s CHOSEN ambassador to Communist China. And no one outside of Utah has ever heard of the guy.

What is he smoking? At least Mitt Romney saved the Olympics (by scarfing up a huge government subsidy).

Not sure there are many Americans who will view a stint as Ambassador to Red China as a great patriotic assignment.

Romney, at least, has a good hairdo and gives a good speech. Huntsman is about as exciting as Tim Pawlenty or watching paint dry. But he can do it in two languages— he speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.

Not sure there are many Americans who will view a stint as Ambassador to Red China as a great patriotic assignment.

Reference points:

  1. 1988: It was on the resume of George Bush the elder and got him elected in spite of it.
  2. 2008: Twenty years later, 52% of the American sheeple voted for a George Soros stooge who mortgaged America's future to China.

No fan of Huntsman (see my previous post), but at least his old man has done a lot of positive, useful work for society, both in business and philanthropy.

1988: It was on the resume of George Bush the elder and got him elected in spite of it.

And that probably had zero impact on the 1988 presidential race. China was on the mind of few Americans then and GHWB had the good fortune of running against a very weak Dim opponent. - China is on the mind of many more Americans now.

And few Americans keep up with who George Soros does or does not support. He's known to more now than a few years ago, but is still only familiar to the most politically aware voters.

I would vote for John Huntsman, Sr. in a heartbeat.

I would never vote for John Huntsman, Jr. He is simply too much of a toodge.

Correct. But the root cause of the problem isn't the latest RINO or media darling. The root cause is the enemedia itself and that it can still manipulate public opinion. Until the enemedia loses all credibility, at least with the part of the electorate which isn't totally stupid and brainwashed, we're not going to get our country back.

The best we may be able to hope for is replacing a toxic sworn enemy with a mediocre RINO. This isn't to say we should stop trying, merely that we need to focus more on root rot rather than the latest manifestations of the symptoms.

Huntsman is only going to jump in to blunt the so called “Mormon Issue” for Mitt.

Sadly, these guys don’t get it.

We don’t care if Mitt is a Mormon.

What we care about is a whole lot of other dinner table subjects.

I can’t imagine Huntsman can win the primary, but it concerns me that his numbers on Intrade have climbed significantly in the last week.
