I know some couples like that, who think nothing of being disrespectful to their spouse in public or to other people.

I would never dream of disparaging my spouse in front of other people the way some people do. I find it embarrassing and disturbing when they do.

I think it says a lot about them.

Now, it is true that I have a bumper sticker on my car that says “My Wife says I never listen to her. Or something like that.”

But it is a personal joke between us (as it probably would be for many married couples who have a sense of humor) and it gets a lot of laughs out of people. I can often see a car pull up behind me, and in my rear view mirror, I can see the couple craning forward to see the sticker, then break into laughter. I had a cop stop me one night for a missing tail light, and when he came up the car, he said “I like your bumper sticker...”

I didn’t get a ticket...:)

Love the bumper sticker!

When I hear someone disparage his or her spouse, it makes me think less of the one making the negative comment and never the one being trashed.

My husband and I set those ground rules early in our marriage. If we have issues with one another, it mandates a private conversation. Public digs=a kick under the table, or worse...no sex! LOL!

I can’t imagine ever talking bad about my man. He’s unbelievable. I’m very, very blessed and let everyone know it!
