It’s an obvious speculation, but I’ll make it anyway: Maybe the framers made the (only) requirement that a `natural born citizen’ occupy the highest elective position in the country, as well as head of one of three co-equal branches of government, because they considered it imperative that the nation’s chief executive be able to comprehend his fellow citizens and the country.
