Abortion: The Big Lie

Modern day pro-life activism requires two traits: a sense of humor; and a charitable heart. A sense of humor because when faced with the absurdity of the pro-death movement, together with the naked truth that abortion equals death and misery, results in the kind of despair that keeps even the coldest of persons – up all night. And, a charitable heart is needed because advocating for the weakest of human life vs. an empire of rich, blood money – is a strenuous, labor of love.

Roe v. Wade (1973) & Doe v. Bolton (1973)

These two U.S. Supreme Court decisions declare that “a woman can legally abort her unborn child at any time throughout her entire nine months of pregnancy…for any reason.” State laws have placed restrictions on this legal right, and abortifacient drugs such as RU-486, also known as the “morning after pill” are legal under these Court decisions, as well. A federal ban on partial birth abortion was signed into law by Congress and President George W. Bush in 2003, and its constitutionality upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2007.

While the ban is a small battle won, still, the combined Court rulings are tantamount to an immediate death warrant, which includes chemical warfare, for any unborn child at the behest of its biological mother, for any reason at all. Prior to 1973, approximately 150,000 abortions were committed annually in doctor’s offices even though it was illegal. The notion that women were subjected to “back alley abortions” was indeed a lie to coax supporters into accepting what was and what continues to be, a lucrative enterprise amounting to 1.5 million surgical abortions each year, today. That’s 10 times the amount of profit.

Well said! Thank you.

I would also add that women who have been given a prenatal diagnosis of genetic defect are rarely, if ever, offered alternatives other than abortion. I know from the personal experience of many friends that couples who are facing Down Syndrome or other genetic disorders are pressured HARD to abort. It’s very, very sad. When they cave to the pressure, they have the “procedure” done then are kicked to the curb as soon as their vital signs are stable & the dr deems that that are able to go home. I am not aware that any follow up counseling or treatment is given. What’s more, the medical profession treats them as if they made the right decision, so any negative post-abortion feelings that they may have are suppressed since they’re made to feel like they shouldn’t feel bad. Unbelievable. This happened to a friend of mine & as a nurse anesthetist who occasionally works in a women’s hospital where late term abortions are preformed, I’ve seen this first hand. Also, as far as I know there are only 2 states whose laws require that perinatal hospice services be offered to these women as an alternative to abortion. In the other 48 states, these families are left to think they have no options.

Anyone who reads this & fails to see the inherent lies in the abortion industry is either mentally ill or just plain dishonest. We live in the Culture of Death.

With respect to the need for humor: Many of us have chuckled when somebody drives by and yells, “Get a LIFE!”

Well, actually, yeah. That’s kind of the idea....
