Barack Obama filed his tax return, showing he made about $1.7 million last year.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is making less money than he used to, though it's still a lot: He and wife Michelle reported income of $1.73 million last year, mostly from the books he's written, according to his just-filed tax return. That was down from the $5.5 million of a year earlier.

The president, who has been campaigning to raise taxes on the wealthy, paid the government $453,770 in federal taxes, about a quarter of the income. Just last week, he renewed his push to end Bush-era tax cuts for households with annual incomes above $250,000 — noting that that would include him.

The Obama's donated about $250,000 to charities, but one wonders- why not more? For what does Obama need money?

Thanks to the Bush tax cuts Obama saved an additional $100,000 in taxes.

WASHINGTON -- President Obama banked a six-figure savings when he agreed to extend the Bush-era tax cuts last year, as he hauled in $1.73 million, the first family's tax returns show.

Obama continued to earn big bucks last year, mainly through book royalties, according to tax returns released by the White House yesterday.

"I don't need another tax cut," Obama said last week.

I love Rush’s suggestion today that Obama should not take any campaign donations from anyone earning over $200,000

After all, those are the very people O is targeting for not paying their fair share.

In addition, the President gets a non taxed $50,000 expense account for expenses that most people don’t have, travel expenses, free house and entertainment account (all non taxable) in that amount of at least $400,000 . So, the money he makes that he does pay (and dodge) taxes on goes a little further than most of our paychecks go, so he should be even MORE generous than the rest of the millionaires in my opinion.

“I don’t need another tax cut,” Obama said last week.

He doesn’t need another tax cut because he’s already accumulated his stash. Plus he likely has Swiss bank accounts supplied by Soros, the Chinese, and the Iranians.

Buffet, Gates, and other megabillionaires also claim they should pay more taxes. Again they already have accumulated more wealth than most of us can dream about. I’m still waiting to see one wealthy liberal who thinks she/he is undertaxed step up to the plate and write a big voluntary check to the US Treasury.

When I see one of them voluntarily turn over 50% of their accumulated net worth (not annual income)I’ll believe they are sincere. Until then it is all empty rhetoric. If the Republicans had any fighting spirit, they’d call Obama out on this issue and insist he ante up voluntarily. However, there are only jellyfish in the party so we hear nothing.
