Computer Advice Needed

Posted on 04/18/2011 8:37:42 AM PDT by Former Fetus

I need some computer advice, and I don't know of a better place than FR.

My desktop pc is warning me that it is ready for retirement: sound is off, sometimes does not allow me to type, keeps freezing... My problem is that I love Windows XP and both my husband and son have Vista and they do nothing but complain about it. Can anybody give me an objective opinion of Windows 7? What do you like/dislike about it? If you had a choice between Windows XP and Windows 7, which one would you choose? Thanks to everybody!

Family time I understand.

The fact he’s still young enough to be soundly beaten in whatever game you guys play.

However, once you start to lose consistently, computer games beckon.

"we had become familiarized with the Windows 7 operating system, and I can tell you that if we could afford it, we’d upgrade in a heartbeat."

You can buy a Windows upgrade disk, with THREE upgrades for $100 from Amazon. I just did, and it was the first Microsoft product since DOS 6.11 that was worth the price.

Is there any way I could copy EVERYTHING into the external hard drive
Open two (2) Explore windows (right click on the Windows Start button and click on Explore. Do it again).
Drag and drop from Explore 1 to Explore 2.
