He is, and will always be an opportunist. Waaaaay back in 2008 Trump supported a 14.25% tax levy (read: blatant theft) on 401k and retirement holdings. He described it as a tax on the "evil rich" but it would hit everyone that has a retirement plan. "We must have universal healthcare." He had a hard time making up his mind about a ban on partial birth abortions until after he had consulted with doctors... only after having been asked about his stance and presumably seeing how his pro-choice statement had polled after a national television show.

If he wants to continue on the birth certificate issue on his own time, more power to him. Let's say for the sake of argument that he finds a pristine original copy of the BC and it shows without a doubt that Zero wasn't eligible. What's Trump going to do? Start campaigning about repealing all the horrible crud Zero passed? Here's an idea. Do that without the predication of the birth certificate.

I'm the one saying that people are overemphasizing the BC issue at the expense of many other issues Trump has raised. It's not me obsessing over that one part of his remarks all too many are hearing over everything else.

But there are other issues Trump has raised that will understandably cause many voters to overlook all these past actions that Levin and others are obsessing over. It's the economic future prospects that most will base their votes on.
