So you think that Cain is too much of an unknown to be running for office a year and a half before the election?
Well I guess only Romney and Palin need apply for the nomination. All the other candidates, T-Paw, Daniels, Huntsman, et. al., should just give up right now because they are too unknown to run.
And exactly when do you believe that newcomers should start to campaign? If I recall correctly, this was precisely the time “newcomer” Barak Obama began his campaign and he was pretty successful.
Maybe you need to come up with a valid reason why you believe conservatives shouldn’t support a genuine conservative candidate. We shouldn’t let the media do the thinking for us.
Yup!! Right on the money. Who besides me is sick to death of Tammy Faye and the Tammettes caving in to the Democrats and telling us it the best they could do? If what they are up to right now is the best they can do I’m voting for The Donald.
Lincoln picked Grant as his top general against the advice of his staff.....when told that Grant was a drunk Lincoln responded ..."find out what he's drinking and ship a case to my generals" we need a fighter not a politician... and Trump like Grant is a fighter.
Another thing I have noticed about the Trump boosters - they cannot answer challenges to Trump's lack of conservatism directly. So they respond with completely pointless comments like yours.
BTW, Grant was a good general, but he wasn't much of a president, so your comparison sure did backfire on you.
It's more like ten or so months until the Republican nominee will be determined, not a year and a-half.
Few little known candidates have ever entered a presidential primary and won during their first attempt. Obama was an exception for many reasons that won't be repeated, but even he was put before the public at the 2004 Dim National Convention.
But Cain would have to do something to boost his support beyond the already better known candidates, and it's very unlikely there is anything he can say or do to accomplish that during his initial exposure to most American voters.
That's just a reality and all your protesting won't change that historical fact. He should run again later if he shows promise during the coming primaries.
In time of war......we need a warrior ....not a pol. he served his country with distinction.
Dude, we are talking about Trump as president, not Chairman of the JCS.
My point stands - the Trump boosters are utterly unable to make a conservative case as to why Trump should be president.
Dude.....We are talking about the Commander In Chief
Oh, that's right, with the Rudy pimps.
Trump thinks we should turn tail and run. Some general.
The GOP doesn't deserve the POTUS if it cannot take this issue on.
If Trump is the only one who will drive the rule of law in the matter, he deserves whatever benefit it brings him. And, Trump was CORRECT to chastise Cantor for being a pussy.
If he announces he would build an impenetrable wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, he would be a shoe-in for election.
I don’t have to protest. I’m just confounded by the naysayers who always have an excuse as to why we can’t support genuine conservative candidates. They are willing to settle for outright liberals and phony backstabbing conservatives (like Romney and McCain) because it fits their belief system. Unfortunately their fears of media access seem to have the most influence on them. Believe me, you are not the only one cowed by the media into eliminating the right people for the job.
We should pay more attention to what candidates are actually saying and have actually done in their lives and not worry so much about whether there is enough favorable media attention or enough time to influence public opinion. We need to do what is right. We need to find a genuine conservative and support them, not diddle around waiting for the MSM to create a media star.
Your belief is just a symptom of the problems of our current day election process. It may be ten months before the first primary, but it is well over a year before the nomination itself. Maybe you aren’t, but I’m old enough to remember when no one declared until before the first primary. They had more than enough time to get known and the primary process itself did a lot to determine how well known the candidates became. Herman Cain has plenty of time. So do most of the others who are contemplating running.
If we keep agonizing over media popularity, only media darlings will ever be able to run for office and isn’t that how we got into this mess today?
I haven't eliminated anyone, but for now I'm most interested in the possibilities of Trump and Palin. If Cain pulls off some miracle and becomes a viable candidate his first time out, then I'd consider him more seriously.
But that's just not the way it usually works and it's not because the media is eliminating anyone. It's because most Americans never heard of Herman Cain. We have to remember that most voters pay little attention to potential candidates until campaigns and debates start. That's when Cain will have his chance to convince more people, but it's a tough task for someone not known to most Americans.
In one of the interviews I heard Trump say he’d MILITARIZE the Mexican/US border, which he called “a joke”
This would also stop the drug trade he said
Trump then said he’d review amnesty on a case by case basis... if anybody stays it will only because they’re an addition to the society, he also said a lot of them belong in jail or deported, not welcomed in a wide amnesty
When it was pointed out that would take years, he said it was the only fair way that’s any good for the country
And Trump's views on that issue have to be considered in view of what the next Congress would go along with. But that position on amnesty is good enough because the Congress he'd be working with is very unlikely to approve any sort of amnesty because the voters don't want it.
I hope we aren’t Humpty Dumpty - because all the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn’t put Humpty together again!
We’ll see where he is by election 2012. If he’s representing the dem/indie faction of the Tea Party maybe he’s working to deliver that gift to Hillary. Maybe he’s the Pied Piper - leading the rats to the river.
Shouldn’t we be looking for a candidate that ROVE doesn’t like?
I mean, let’s be honest. Karl Rove generally detests any conservative running in the GOP field. He much prefers the liberal RINOs to actual conservatives.
And if memory serves, Rove HATES Trump. In fact he uses the same language to describe Trump as he does other Conservatives he has campaigned against, ie. Palin.
Limited government was defeated by CWI in 1865.
I’m no Trump fan, but also I’m not idealistic enought to assume this country will ever freely elect a president with your proper concept of limited government anymore.
