Very true. I use to process Security Clearances and it was not uncommon for a guy to have a social security number from a place other than his home state.
Different areas of the country have blocks of SSNs with related first three digits. I am in a position which requres access to SSNs and folks from the same areas have similar beginnings to their SSNs. If they have similar birthdates (year), the numbers are even closer.
One question would be, what are the first three digits. If you go to the site http://www.mrfa.org/ssn.htm it shows the ranges.
He would have had to have lived in CT - or had a mailing address there. There is no indication that he did either one of the above at the age of 15 or any time subsequent to that. Supposedly he lived abroad (in Indonesia) or in Hawaii until he went to New York City to go to Columbia, many years after he was 15.
They don’t just assign you a number out of a hat; it’s the number connected with the place from which you apply, either by showing residence there or having your mailing address there.
The American part of Obama’s family (his mother’s side) seems to have been from the Midwest before moving to Hawaii, so there’s no connection that way, either.
Incidentally, I recall reading that SS was planning on ending the geographical locator system and that new numbers will actually be randomly issued. But this was not the case at that time.

No, he didn’t. His father returned to Africa in 1965 and then visited the U.S. for the last time in 1971.
My SSAN is from a state in which I never lived nor ever had a mailing address. There are a number of ways he could have gotten this number.
But, I remember reading he has multiple SSANs, is this true?

I believe you must present an address within the state in which you are applying for a SS#. (and not just a PO Box)

What state were you living in at the time your SS# was issued and what state does your SS# indicate it was issued from?
The first 3 numbers of your SS# would be the indicator.

That’s the way I understand it. His father was a Kenyan goatherder who moved his goat herd to the United States around that time. So if he was grazing his kids in Connecticut around 1977, it would make sense for obuma to have a Connecticut SS number. We just need to find someone who remembers a Kenyan goat guy grazing his kids in the Connecticut savannah at that time. Once that’s established, we have a place for obuma in 1977, unless someone in Kansas or Hawaii recalls a Kenyan goatherder in 1977. Then the mystery continues.
I try to come up with reasonable explanations....I guess one would be that his mother was in Conn. and applied for it, maybe so she could get some gov’t benefits or something.
Of course, that doesn’t explain his having the same SS# as someone else (if that’s true)
If he were born during 1961, he’d have been 15 for at least a day in 1977 unless he were born on New Year’s Day.
His mother was living and teaching in Indonesia from 1975 till the breakup of her marriage in 1980.

So all the talk about Connecticut may not mean a thing...
Number represents either mailing address or SS office where they dropped in to apply for number. BO was not in Connecticut at that time.
Actually, if you believe Wiki, she lived in Hawaii from ‘72-’77. So, she could have visited Conn in 1977 for some reason before she returned to Indonesia.

Dude, forget that nonsense. Obama’s half sister born in Indonesia has a US SSN which is assigned to Hawaii residents. So SAD made an extraordinary effort to secure a SSN assigned to CT residents just for little Barry that she abandoned to the grandparents???
Granny had access to the SSN database through her volunteer work in Honululu. This is identity fraud pure and simple. The fraudster in chief needs to be placed in jail.
I looked at WIKI. It said she left the states in 1975.
