Birther Czar Joseph Farah: I've Been Talking To Donald Trump 'Quite A Bit'
Talking Points Memo ^ | April 14, 2011 | Jillian Rayfield

Posted on 04/14/2011 6:25:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Looks like Donald Trump is taking his birtherism to the next level -- by soliciting advice from birther czar Joseph Farah.

Kendra Marr of Politico reports that Farah says he and Trump talked every day this week, and he has been advising Trump on the basics of birtherism. "We've have been speaking quite a bit," Farah said.

Since he started maybe-running for president, Trump has repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of President Obama's U.S. birth. Conspiracy theories about Obama's birth certificate have been repeatedly debunked, but that hasn't stopped Trump from speculating that the President's grandparents planted a birth announcement in a Hawaii newspaper to get government benefits like welfare and hospitalization.

According to Marr, Farah said he offered to give Trump a tutorial in birtherism once Trump started publicly asking questions about President Obama's birth certificate. "His people were very quick to respond," Farah said.

If there was any question about Trump's legitimacy as a presidential candidate, his association with Farah should answer it. As the founder and editor of the influential right-wing "news" site WorldNetDaily (WND), Farah has continued to give the birther issue oxygen, long after it was abandoned by mainstream conservatism.

This week Farah admitted WND publishes "some misinformation by columnists." Farah was responding to questions from Salon's Justin Elliott about WND's repeated (and erroneous) claim that Obama has spent $2 million on a legal team to fight the birther lawsuits, a claim that was eventually picked up by Trump.

With Trump, Farah has found someone who gets enough publicity to bring the birther issue back to the forefront. Farah wrote recently on his website: "And so it is in 2011, in the USA, when suddenly, with childlike innocence and a natural-born sense of curiosity, billionaire and would-be presidential candidate Donald Trump shouted from a media pedestal no one could ignore, 'Look, the emperor has no birth certificate!'"

Farah doesn't stop with birtherism, though. He's also questioned whether Obama is a Christian: "Here's the truth: Obama is not a Christian. He doesn't even know what it means to be a Christian."

And he's said a few inflammatory things about gay people too, comparing speaking to the gay conservative group GOProud with addressing the KKK, calling for conservatives to "purge" the movement of GOProud and gay rights supporters, and saying that "German-style Nazism was a pagan, homosexual cult."

Farah and WND have been rejected by the broader conservative movement. They were barred from holding a panel on birther issues at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, and haven't been welcomed back since.

This year WND ran an article theorizing that CPAC had been infiltrated by Muslims.

TPM readers may also remember that WND was behind a book about how the Council On American Islamic Relations (CAIR) allegedly used interns to secretly infiltrate Capitol Hill offices, written by a man who posed as a Muslim to get an internship at CAIR. Four House Republicans picked up the claims from the book, called Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America. As Farah describes it, it exposes the "international cabal working on behalf of Saudi-style Shariah law right here in America."

Don’t forget, some members of Congress could be held accountable legally if this was proven to be a scam. Members of Congress take an oath to uphold the US Constitution.

If Trump is going to focus on the BC, he should stop with the born in Kenya theory and hammer away at "A man who spends $2 million to prevent release of a $20 dollar document must be hiding something. I don't know exactly what it is about the BC that Obama is trying to hide but I know money and one thing I know about money is that no one spends $2 million to protect a $20 dollar document for no reason."

I’d have to look to be sure of the details

The only important and real details are that Obama has not released his long form and has signed an executive order to kept all of his records of his history to be private.

I cannot fathom why all 50 states accepted the word of Nancy Pelosi.

I think its a simple matter of both parties making things easier on themselves and one hand washing the other.

60% of the military lost in Afghanistan died in the 2 years of this guys watch. He started another war in libya And we have some military officials in jail for doubting his eligibility to be Commander In Chief. If (when he does release his info) it's found that he was not legally eligible to be President... what happens about Libya? Is he a criminal for the deaths? What about those jailed US soldiers?

This issue needs to be solved now. Not used for the elections. If Obama is not eligible he should not be allowed to run again.

“I want a candidate that will focus on the crimes underway, not the speculated ones that have been widely dismissed.”

Hell, NO one is ACCOMPLISHING ANYTHING-—the congresscritters, the lousy Supreme Court, Issa, judges, secretaries of state.

If the IDIOTS that voted for the fraud without having done ANY research on him prior to the “election” of 2008 can be swayed to vote for someone else because they despise being lied to and raped of their savings, I say, bring it on-—in ANY way possible. Get Trump IN—then, fight to FIRE him next election cycle! At least he wants people to work!

And just who is it YOU will vote for that you imagine can get the nomination from the repubes that delivered the incompetent McCain?

He is not going to get thrown out of office by ANYTHING he does. If firing the Inspector General Gerald Walpin (which was completely against the law) didn’t provoke a reaction, I wager NOTHING he does will cause a reaction.

I dare say if he shot someone on Prime time Television, most of the people in America would say “Did you hear something?”

If ANY issue is going to take him down, I suspect it is going to be this “trivial” birth certificate issue. (Or perhaps the Social Security number issue.)

Why? Because it’s simple. If proven the public would understand it. Even those simpletons that voted for him.

He certainly has spent a very large amountt of campaign funds, which are his in that he controls them, on a private firm that has defended him in a number of eligibility cases and the expenditures coordinate with activity in the cases by that private firm. These expenditures are separate and apart from the taxpayer funds spent on U.S. attorneys in some of the cases.

Yes, no one legal wants the job! Romney would not make it but no one will fight him on it, no one except one of bo’s buds. If Romney gets (not a chance)the nomination the fact that his father was born in Mexico and never naturalized is problematic. Jindal would never press the issue.

And how will we trust that the candidate is eligible after all of this?

I havent seen any new compelling evidence. “ ===========

That’s the entire point. There is no compelling evidence. Who is Obama? Where did he came from? Any normal American would be proud to confirm their birth if there was an issue. A normal American with any respect for their constituency would produce it and end the issue....that is, unless, there is something he doesn’t want us to know. Is he even eligible? It’s Obama making the big deal out of this by dragging his feet.

“I think its a simple matter of both parties making things easier on themselves and one hand washing the other.”

I count it as ignorance (of the eligibility requirements AND the meaning of “Natural Born Citizen.”) and Incompetence. That seems to be the general rule among bureaucracies.
