I don't know why I get twitched by people on this date because I no longer think it makes any difference.

The basic fact is that all these transcripts are bound in ledger bindings with screw in pins. So the little notation about the beginning date for her first fall extension start date is down in the fold where it is very difficult to see.

And the typeface is really tiny. So it was easy to mistake the bottom of the 9 as an 8 because as small as the 9 was, it looked like the bottom loop was closed to be an 8.

I spotted that boot in Corsi's original story because I walked by the Administration building on August 19, 1961 and can testify from personal firsthand observation that the building was locked--as was the rest of the campus.

Finals week for summer quarter ended on Friday, August 18. The campus was locked down for the next two weeks for summer break. No way did she register that date; no possible way she was in class on that date. Didn't happen.

Because of events in which I was engaged on the 17th, 18th, 19th through the 21st; I remember each of the days.

And the clerk's letter that an honest misreading is the cause of the mistake seems reasonable. Because I know really well what those old transcript binders looked like.

Class started for fall Quarter on September 24th. That is when she started class. Registration for night school was the week before; the 19th was the biggest registration date.
