Nope, mine were out of diapers by 18-19 months.

That is not typical. Potty training can begin at any age, obviously, depending on the child/parents. There are plenty of children who are still in diapers at three....four is much more unusual. Having a child in diapers at 2 or 2 1/2 would not be unusual at all. I was trying to work backwards based on the distinct memory of the diaper scenario. That memory leaves a wide range of possible times that Mary could have babysat, but is a memory I would trust more than an exact age. It's the way most humans remember things - events vs. exact timelines.

That's why I asked if there was any other data of when Stanley Ann was supposed to be in the apartments with Mary babysitting. If not, we only have two pieces of data that may or may not totally add up - Mary says her child was 18 months and that she was in diapers. To me, the 18 month memory is a less trustworthy memory than the diaper memory. However, the diaper memory leaves a wide range of possibilities of when she babysat for Stanley Ann. So there we are.

Mothers remember birthdays! Her daughter was two years old in July of 1961. They also remember pregnancies and she was pregnant with her first son in the spring of 1962.
