Profile
Formerly Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania (1985-1990) and presently Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Africa University, Mutare, Zimbabwe since August 1992.
Principal areas of competence include crop protection, entomology, plant pathology, weed science and postharvest technology.
Working experience include over 25 years of research and university teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Administrative experience includes membership in various committees and Boards both within and outside the university.
Research
Major areas of research interest include postharvest handling of grain with main focus on traditional handling, storage and protection of grains and legumes; field crops entomology and improvement of university teaching in general.
Publications
Publications include over 25 articles and two books in referred journals and over 30 publications in conference and workshop proceedings.
Consultancy
A number of short-term consulting assignments have been carried out with various organizations including FAO, USAID, DANIDA, ARCT and the Ministry of Agriculture (Tanzania)
Awards and Honours
Williamson’s Diamonds Prize for the best student in Physics, Tabora, Tanzania (1962).
Dr Jackson’s Memorial Prize for best student in Biology - Tabora, Tanzania, 1962.
