I think (well I hope) that if there had been a way to see our soldiers get paid properly during the shutdown that the Republicans would have held the line. Its a serious problem that needs to be addressed.

“What I’m hearing all over the news is that the “leaders” of the Democrat Party are claiming victory”

Maybe they should try tuning into Liberal talk radio, because “victory is not in their vocabulary this morning.

I’ll withhold comments on weather I think we won or lost this budget battle – but it was fun listening to Bill Press on Leftist Talk Radio this morning. As far as the Leftist are concern, Obama caved again. Bill, and nearly everyone of his Liberal callers were spitting mad that the Government wasn’t shut down, and that a deal was made. They had made all of these plans on how to use a Government shut down against the Republicans – and they see it all get blown away. I could not believe the anger they have against Obama right now. But the sad thing is, as with the continued wars, GITMO, extension of the Bush tax cuts, and all the other broken promises he made to them, they will be mad for a week or two, but like the zombies they are, they will rejoin the Obama love fest.

I noticed that the ‘tea party’ had alot to say over this budget. I thought Dingy Hairy said they were insignificant. I can’t stand Boehner....he’s a baby.

For all our non-U.S. readers, you’re really going to be deeply entertained by this: After days of intense negotiations and media coverage, top political negotiators in the U.S. reached an agreement to “slash” government spending in what Obama called “the biggest annual spending cut in history!”

And yet, if you actually do the math, it’s only a $38.5 billion cut out of an annual budget that involves roughly $4 trillion in federal spending (depending on which system of accounting you believe, of course).

In other words, the so-called “cuts” are utterly insignificant. In fact, U.S. government debt went UP by $54 billion in just the 8 days preceding the Obama-Boehner deal (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/debt-jumped-54-billion-8-days-preceding), meaning that the $38.5 billion in federal spending cuts only delayed the total debt blowout of the U.S. government by less than a week!

You see, friends, it is now abundantly evident that the U.S. government is headed toward a complete economic meltdown that will make Fukushima look downright chilly by comparison. I call it The Big Shutdown, and if you thought a few billion dollars in cuts were hard to swallow, just wait until the feds can’t issue paychecks to anyone.

All the weekend supposed conservative talking heads were giving high praise to the cry-baby. Maybe Rush will have a different take?

I think Boehner is doing ok. Shutting down the government plays well here as well as the communist blogs, but to the unaffiliated, low-information voter, the optics of a government shut down make it seem like typical Washington and unplugs them from the debate even further. We need to be seen as the party out to fix things, even if it’s one small step at a time. If we keep reducing deficits by any measure, Americans will continue to send us more and more troops on election day.

All you had to see to know that the American people lost (again).

Was the this collection of hacks left and right congratulating themselves on Friday night.

There is nobody left fighting for the American taxpayer.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of any/everyone finding defeat in a victory.

I can imagine there were SOME Green Bay Packer fans REALLY pissed off that they only beat the Steelers by 6 and not 60.

The fact is, BO's final FY 2011 budget was $78B or so LESS than he wanted. Remember, he only gets to PROPOSE a budget. The failing Democrats, under Nasty Pelozi and Dingy Hairy never passed anything.

So essentially, this was a Republican win--BO got LESS than he asked for.

Could it have been better? Hell yes. But let's stop the bee-otching, okay? Take a win and move on to the next battle.

Maybe Rush will have a different take?

I'm betting Rush will agree that this was a sham...that much bigger cuts needed to be made and the Crybaby FAILED.

We also have to understand that the media stands behind the Dims 100%. Even our local news was acting like people were going to be starving.

I think it could have worked in the favor of Republicans until O said he wouldn’t pay the troops.

Not convincing in the least.

After negotiating $20b *less* than the debt grew *during* the negotiations; conceding their position when the dems argument was based on "shutdown govt & screw the troops if we can't fund abortions"... What leads you -OR- betsyspage.blogspot.com to believe that these feckless, malfeasant, spineless, GOP-installed leaders will stand and fight for either the Debt-Ceiling or the 2012-budget? So far, they have performed on par with the GOP's history: Fold like a cheap card-table as soon as the Dems raise their voices.

Nothing changes as long as the GOP chooses the leadership, the committee chairs, how primaries are conducted, etc. etc. etc. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Yeh lets wait and see what happens with the debt ceiling and the 2012 budget. If they screw that up then we can be righteously ticked off.
