No just stated he spent time in Pakistan with the passport. The whole debate on whether an American could travel there at that time I’ve never found a clear answer on. He may have also been abroad somewhere doing correspondence courses for Columbia.

From 1979-1987 I worked closely with US citizens who travelled freely from the US to Pakistan and back again.

There have never been any travel restrictions for US passport holders to visit Pakistan, not from 1947-2011.

Is that clear enough?
