I did some searching. While JoAnne (Fishman) Kloppenburg’s father is Elihu Fishman, Joelle’s is named George. Joelle stated that she came from a political family.

There is an earlier Elihu. These Fishmans would be (Ukrainian) Jewish, not Scottish. My guess with Kloppenburg is that her time in Yale and Princeton led to networking with lefties in Madison.

This must be a family of some notoriety, as Morris Sweetkind, a teacher at my old CT prep school, actually wrote of the town Ukrainian Abraham Fishman emigrated from.

BTW, my own roots go to Connecticut, but I am presently near the Wisconsin border in Illinois, so I find this interesting all the way around.

Not that they would be "Scottish" Jews, but that they'd be Scottish circus owners or managers ~ and you get all sorts of names in that crowd.

The Fishman family is rather like the Abrams family ~ lots of 'em. Plus, they don't all live on Manhattan Island.
