Honolulu, Blaisdell Arena, in 1969...front row seat. (Of course, as a radio DJ they were free tickets.) Favorite CCR song? “Fortunate Son”

I don't know who a CCR is. My mother would only let me buy one record when I was a kid.

He is still popular now with the kids now a days, isn't he?

A guy who is a DJ told me never to purchase one of their albums because they were ripped off by record industry suits and they got almost nothing from the profits.

They don’t come more to the left than Fogerty.

Funny thing about CCR (or rather me): For ages I thought The Hollies’ ‘Long Cool Woman’ was by CCR. Oh well...

CCR may very well be my favorite rock group of all time, either them or the Beatles.

FM radio staples then and today include "I Put a Spell on You", "Born on the Bayou", "Good Golly, Miss Molly", "Green River", "Bad Moon Rising", "Down on the Corner", "It Came Out of the Sky", "Cotton Fields", "The Night Time is the Right Time", "Midnight Special", "Fortunate Son", "Travelin' Band", "Looking Out My Back Door", "I Heard it Through the Grapevine", "Long as I Can See the Light", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Pagan Baby", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", "Someday Never Comes", and "Sweet Hitch-hiker". Twenty-one titles...and no "Suzie Q"?

Fogerty has been doing a lot of bluegrass and country covers these days, and they aren’t bad. Although the original is still much, much better, he has a respectable cover of “Paradise,” one of the world’s finest songs.

John Fogerty is one of my favorite artists. The songs he wrote and performed with CCR still sound as good as they did 40 years ago. Among his later works, I really enjoy the CDs
Blue Moon Swamp and
Centerfield.
However, I really don't care for Fogerty as a person. The more I hear about the pettiness and bitterness he constantly exhibits, the less I personally like him. The animosity that John Fogerty expressed against his former CCR bandmates, Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and his own late brother, Tom, seemed really excessive. It sounded like John was reluctant to even reconcile with his own brother as Tom was dying. He strikes me as a very unlikable human being.
