I agree wrt Egypt but don’t forget that it had a pro-Western government for 30 yrs which Urkel overthrew.
No one is claiming we should try and convert religious fanatics in Afghanistan or anywhere else. Our presence there and in Iraq is primarily to kill terrorists. It is the Roach Motel tactic. They check in and don’t check out.
Our current mission in Afghanistan seems to be building schools and roads that are in turn blown up in a timely fashion while turning a blind eye to their flourishing poppy fields.
