People dont get their Social Security checks. They dont get their veterans payments. Basic functions shut down. And it... would have an adverse effect on our economic recovery.
The above statement, made by President Barack Obama during the first near-shutdown, has become the refrain of the Democrat chorus over the last several days. One thing they didnt tell you about their song, however, is that Obama holds the conductors baton.
In past shutdowns under Presidents Reagan, H.W. Bush, and Clinton, Social Security checks still went out. Our veterans and uniformed military continued to receive their payment and benefits. Food inspection, air traffic control, Medicare, and other services deemed essential all ran as usual. Social Security even continued to process applications. All of these guidelines were established in the 1980s and have not been modified since.

Can't this bully be impeached?
The only thing Obama & the Dems care about is power. Old folks, vets, the country? Not so much .......
Of course the checks keep going out, they just reach into the various lock boxes, grab some money, and send out the checks.
In actuality, despite my sarcasm, that is EXACTLY what would happen. The SSA would sell bonds to the Fed who will write the checks...those bonds that carry a 2% coupon and were placed in the trust fund when the cash was taken away. Of course that should raise interest rates but what the heck, sounds like a winner.
Don't you realize the Rats control the media? When Obama drops his pants, ABC-CBS-NBC-CNN-PBS-NYT-LAT-WaPo and others immediately kneel down into kissing position. They'll spin stories any way the totalitarian-in-chief desires.
VETERANS ALERT:
read about the new Czar heading up our military retirees health care. Also, read about tricare for life..this is a disgrace.
