Government March Madness: Nanny State Runs Amok in Delaware as Govt Arbitrarily Tears Down 60-Year-Old Basketball Hoops

Context, first, from the estimable Ed Driscoll:

Change! In the 1990s, in Bill Clinton’s America, “Midnight Basketball” was seen as one way to improve the morale of otherwise disaffected youth, and thus, potentially lower the crime rate in urban environments.

In 2011, in Joe Biden’s Delaware, neighborhood basketball hoops are being tossed into giant state-owned dump trucks.

Watch the video, and note the female plainclothes cop blatantly lie to the homeowner, then order him into his house. These commissars are looking for CW II.

Neighbor is an A**hole and DelDot violated this guy’s 4th amendment.

You can’t take someone’s property without cause and due process.

The cop should be fired, but she’ll probably get a commendation.

You can't argue with Central Planning. They have a five year plan.

Year "six" is really going to be a bitch.

Delaware has a regime like the one in Versailles on the Potomac - RAT governor, RAT legislature, RAT Senate, Rat here, RAT there, RATs everywhere.

Now, even RATs outside Dover are complaining. The elite voted to give the Fisker/Gore auto plant(they plan to sell electric cars at $81k each) and Valero refinery (state’s biggest polluter) tax abatement without input or knowledge of New Castle County Council.

RAT Councilman George Smiley stated: “Any future commitments the state makes for this county without the input of council, they better be able to fund it.”

Truly, you get the government you deserve.

The only thing missing from this outrage is that Obamanation in the White House (or Mayor Bloomberg) explaining why their taking the baskets rather than than young women doing it. If there is a followup I'd love to see a picture of the neighbor who made the complaint. The house looks like its on a cul de sac. Do you think they would have removed the basket pole if the family was Negro?
