Sarah, always the gracious, classy one, but Ferraro was not nearly the “great woman” people would like to think of her as. I mean, she identified with and praised Moon(bat)dale, for crying out loud!!

You kidding? She always demeaned the other side just like a typical Dem-Rat, this is just more feminist garbage to appease the Left, I'll pass........

I saw here on FOX several times. She was as partisan as they come. I'll always remember her "clucking" like a chicken when she thought she came up with a "zinger" against the Republicans. She was classless political hack.

Sarah Weddington is a decent woman. Deluded fanatic on that same issue. Why I mentioned the priests. When you put your trust in false prophets, you can be excused to a degree. To what degree, only God knows.

There is nothing wrong with Palin being gracious and there is nothing to fear from a dead woman.

Then they will show that they have no class.

> There will be some who will slam Palin because of her comments. To them it’s an insult if a conservative woman says anything good about a liberal woman.

And it's a shame some very ungracious FReepers see the passing of a political opponent as an occasion to speak ill of the recently deceased. This thread has some comments that made me blink to make sure I wasn't accidentally on another forum. FreeRepublic is supposed to be conservative, and conservatives are supposed to have manners.

Thanks to those FReepers who understand that when someone dies, it's best to respect that solemn event, and leave any judgments of the person's character and politics to God, before whom all our puny opinions are as dust.

I agree. She used to be very snarky and dismissive of the Right every time she opened her mouth. I am a little surprised that after the obligatory RIP here on FR threads, people feel compelled to add that she was gracious and kind. I can't think of one time I watched her and didn't cringe at the absurd assertions she made against the Right.

It's a shame we live in a country where you do that without being imprisoned.

“Gender is irrelevant. Ferraro was corrupt and Sarah shouldn’t have praised her.”

I agree with you all the way

So will the MSM play endless clips of her stating that if Obama was white, he never would have gotten anywhere?

No. Probably not.

Frankly, I think it was the only redeeming action the woman ever took.

Geez Tread. This lady passed away today. Rest in peace Ms. Ferraro. Palin’s remarks were timely and entirely appropriate.

Ferraro set an example for proper conduct by the left toward Palin and other high-profile conservative women. Of course, few got the message, but I appreciate her effort and admire the courage she demonstrated in doing so. I tend to think that her words were comforting and encouraging to Sarah and her family as well.

Ferraro always had much more class than most other rats. She was a major cut above their herd. She was one of the very few rats who, when I would see her turn up on a political talk show such as Hannity, I didn’t think to myself, “Oh geez, not this asshole again.” She was always gracious, friendly, smiling and respectful.

She was bright and good-natured, just like Sarah. Perhaps she saw some of herself in Sarah. I’d like to think so.

Nice remarks from Sarah.

I'm not so sure about that.

Dead Democrat women vote all the time.

I suppose this includes Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, etc.

Thank you, she was as despicable as they come, I’m truly tired of this Bush-bot nonsense, you see where this graciousness err, pandering to the other side got Bush, absolutely nowhere.

It’s not really a surprise that Palin celebrates feminism (the real message of her facebook post). It’s been her theme all the way through her career.

Haven’t we had enough “historic firsts?” I am sick of “first this, first that,” based on race, gender, religion, etc. Let’s grow up, America.

From the article(bold added):In 1985, Ferraro was the first female vice presidential candidate from a major U.S. political party when she ran with Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale.

When the writer of the article gets the dates wrong, gets the facts wrong about which term it was for Reagan/Bush, the rest of the story has no credibility. I know that it was copy/pasted from CNN, but that should be a red flag to vet their facts even closer.

As others have posted, Ferraro was a hack and quite possibly a crook. No loss to humanity in her passing.

My $0.02
