While in fact his natural born citizen status is more important, you need to realize that two things can happen to obfuscate that truth: he could come up with an excellent fake and Congress could vote to accept it; or he could be excused by some other “ruling” or from total inaction as in 2008 from having to show proof. Thus he probably will be able to run and possibly win in 2012.

Our point is that if it can be proven that he checked a box marked “No” as he answered his college application question “Are you an American citizen,” he would NEVER win American votes for the presidency. Equally, it would kill him in voting if he renewed his Indonesian passport as an adult and traveled under it. Bypassing whatever screwy things he, his people, or the press could do, Americans do not want someone who claimed to be a foreigner as their President.

So to keep him out of the White House, finding out his passport travel history and college applications are more immediately damning. The press and his supporters could spin his birth as not being within his knowledge, bla bla bla, but they couldn’t spin his adult actions.

Could someone please clarify: I have heard that a presidental candidate has standing to challenge Obama to prove his NBC status...show his BC, etc... Is that true? Would that only apply to Obama’s challenger who wins the Republican party nomination? If Trump or Bachman won the nomination do you think they would do that? Would it matter if the Supreme Court refused anyway? Maybe they wouldn’t refuse that time and we could finially get the truth.

Oh, I agree that his records, which include school (etc) are important.

The original long form BC (if it exists) is also important as it would help to establish, just who his parents really were and settle the issue of where he was born.

However, faking a B.C. to show Sr. Obama as his birth father would probably placate most on the issue of place of birth...it would do next to nothing for him as far as the actual Constitutional requirement. In fact, it would solidify the case against him being eligible.

For, if it were proven that Sr. Obama was his legal father at birth...it would prove that he was born owing allegiance to a foreign nation. He could never be considered a natural born Citizen as such. Even the modern day state department raises the problems associated with dual nationals. Keep in mind, the following discuses the problems associated with "citizens" that have dual nationality. natural born Citizen and dual nationals are contradictory in nature.

7 FAM 081: U.S. Policy on Dual Nationality:

(e)While recognizing the existence of dual nationality, the U.S. Government does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Dual nationality may hamper efforts by the U.S. Government to provide diplomatic and consular protection to individuals overseas. When a U.S. citizen is in the other country of their dual nationality, that country has a predominant claim on the person.

...

the U.S. Supreme Court has stated that dual nationality is a "status long recognized in the law" and that "a person may have and exercise rights of nationality in two countries and be subject to the responsibilities of both." See Kawakita v. United States, 343 U.S. 717 (1952).

And this...

US State Department Services Dual Nationality

... The U.S. Government recognizes that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. citizens may conflict with U.S. law, and dual nationality may limit U.S. Government efforts to assist citizens abroad. The country where a dual national is located generally has a stronger claim to that person's allegiance.

However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there...
