They're skeered. The leftist strategy is to go on the offense whenever possible. The GOP are still playing by "civilized" rules, but the left has no issue with playing "dirty."
Also, the idea that she cannot win is just that--an idea. It's propaganda to scare potential voters away from exercising their free will. It's a ploy to get voters to support someone like Romney, or some other pre-selected candidate supported by the "elite." Make no mistake, letting the GOP leadership pick your candidate is a guarantee for more of what we've seen in politics for the past two decades.
