Todays the big day for Amtraks Wilmington train station. It is being renamed in honor of Vice President and former Delaware Senator Joe Biden following major renovations made possible with stimulus funds.
One problem: the CEO of Amtrak got stuck on the train.
ABC News Deputy Political Director & Political Reporter Michael Falcone tweeted at approximately 10 a.m. that the Acela train he was riding had been delayed in Baltimore and that he was sitting next to Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman.
Falcone tweeted, Acela to NY delayed for unknown period Should I feel better that the Amtrak CEO is sitting next to me?
It quickly became apparent that the CEOs presence wouldnt fix the train. A subsequent tweet from Falcone noted, BAD sign: Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman just got OFF the train to take a car to Wilmington.
Amtrak CEO abandoned his own train to make ribbon cutting ceremony for Joe Biden station in Wilmington, Falcone reported. When I told Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman it was a bad sign he was ditching the stranded Acela, he chuckled.
An Amtrak spokesman offered no comment to ABC News on the incident.
The rechristening of the Wilmington station was scheduled to begin at noon, according to NBC Philadelphia.
This is pure, sweet hilarity.
Had Willie Green not been Zotted, he would have claimed that this proves AMTRAK needs more of Uncle Sugar’s money. He would also have mentioned the many virtues of Free (tax payer provided) Wi-Fi.
The onion? LOL
No, that should be named for former Senator Larry Craig.
They don’t call it “Lametrak” for nothing.
Glad the “Stimulus Sheriff” was there for the honors, I assume he’s riding a VP limo with the Sec Serv.
And Florida Freepers are giddy after yesterday’s announcement that Sen. Nelson’s attempt to get AMTRAK the funding to build the HSR as a private entity died.
I remember the news reports that said he was trying to get the funding to a private group to move the project ahead anyway. Since when did AMTRAK become truly a private entity?
The irony...
The $2.4 billion in “federal” money that Florida rejected is now available for other states to spend on Amtrak:

First, there were laugh tracks on TV.
Now there are gaffe tracks on our railroads with the Gaffe-O-Matic at the controls!
True, but we see it as their/your problem to deal with. We elected a Governor who is willing to reject a deal that would have put every taxpayer in this state alone to pick up the tab of an obvious big government boondoggle. While we are focusing on getting out of the grip of the feds, the others can live with their voting consequences and be saddled with the debt incurred of supporting the beast. We are doing our part, now is the time for everyone else to take a hint from us to get off the ship before it sails into a hurricane.
Ah, yes, like all the "federal" money ($12B+ $3B MA money) that MA "spent" on the Big Dig for 3 ton ceiling slabs falling fatally down on cars?
How much do the non-ferrous metal light fixtures falling from ferrous hangers weigh? And how many of the fixtures are there?
Florida, and its taxpayers, are better off without yet more white elephants.
bttt
Joe is the comic relief in this horrible administration. Everything he touches turns into a joke.
Joe Biden is a whore. He gets train money and that’s it. That guy is a joke.
