Libya: Obama's No-Guts Zone

Many liberals neither understand nor love America. That does not mean that they hate everything about the US. For example, they love Michael Moore, locally sources arugula, NPR and the Ground Zero Mosque. However, they hate the fact that America is the most prosperous and successful nation-state in the history of the world. Shouldn't all nations be equal?

The problem comes into focus when the world needs a leader. Since World War II, only America has had the hard and soft assets to make a positive difference in a crisis. Does Japan call Kenya for nuclear plant crisis management?

The United Nations cannot lead the world. They have no army, navy or air force. When the Arab League recently called upon the UN or NATO to create a no-fly zone in Libya in order to prevent the wholesale slaughter of rebels, what they really meant is, "America, please help us."

Instead, the Arab League got almost five full weeks of weak-kneed Obama temporizing, followed by empty platitudes and a call for the UK and France to take the lead. THIS is what the world looks like without American leadership. It is left to the Italy to decide what the world will look like.

Without American leadership the Iranians will go nuclear and dominate their incapable Arab neighbors. Without American leadership the Chinese will use bribes and aid to economically dominate Africa and South America. Without American leadership dictatorships in the making like Venezuela will harden, and murderous governments from Cuba to Zimbabwe to North Korea will sigh in relief.

For all of Obama's faults (spending us into bankruptcy being a key one) the biggest surprise has been his utter failure to lead on...

Could be obama is showing his loyalty and restraint. I've read that Mad Muammar is on good terms with the president's mentor, spiritual leader and fellow traveler Rev. Wright. You could add that Colonel Brother Leader's also friends with Minister Louis Abdul-Haleem Farrakhan Muhammad, Sr., but, of course, to suggest any of that would matter to our president would just be crazy talk.
