PolitiFact, FactCheck, and WaPo All Confirm: The $105 Billion Obamacare Slush Fund Exists
Heritage ^ | 3-9-11

Today former Congressman Ernest Istook testified before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee about the $105 billion slush fund in advance appropriations liberals tucked inside Obamacare.

The $105 billion bypasses the traditional yearly budgeting process and is spread throughout the 2,700 page legislation.

It took the Congressional Research Service (CRS) seven months to identify all the disparate funds and it was not until February (11 months after the bill passed) that all of the funds could be totaled up.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has been beating the drum to raise awareness of this unprecedented level of advance spending.

But the liberal media has been attacking her for calling it “hidden” funding. In reality, Rep. Bachmann said that “practically no Member of Congress even knew that $105 billion of funding was” in the bill.

FactCheck says that this funding was known to “those who read the bill … including members of Congress.”

But does FactCheck really believe that any member of Congress read all 2,700 pages of the bill?

Do they have any evidence at all that any member of Congress knew about the $105 billion figure before CRS published their report this February?

But more importantly, in their attempted take down of Rep. Bachmann, PolitiFact, FactCheck, and The Washington Post Fact Checker all confirm her underlying charge:

the $105 billion exists.

Poltifact writes: “We added up the spending Bachmann was referring to and got $104 billion — very close to her number.”

And a note to The Washington Post Fact Checker: Former Congressman Ernest Istook served in the House of Representatives, not the Senate.

So, there would be some easy 105 billions to cut. Only 350 billions to go to reach Rand’s 500.

Pelosi and Reid should be charged with embezzlement of public funds. That’s why no spending bill should ever be considered without everyone being able to READ and offer amendments to it. This should be taken to the Supreme Court for an opinion pronto.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Now what to do about it since Boner is afraid to make this part of the budget negotiations. Can we all see why the RINO establishment didn't want Bachmann in the leadership? If this is not defunded, Boner deserves to be thrown out of office.

This is a bit puzzling. No Congress can compel actions of future Congresses.

They might as well spend it and bring on the coming financial collapse. Those responsible and their supporters can then be held fully accountable in the aftermath.

The $105 Billion Obamacare Slush Fund Exists------

No surprise----Ohaha's gotta scramble to invent new ways to get the billion dollars for his campaign. BTW, a lot of his campaing cash is stashed offshore.

AND GET THIS----his recent Boston fundraiser started out as a $5,000 a plate then dropped to $500 a plate ... but he still could not fill the room----ended up talking to a little over 100 people.

and we continue to send in our taxes like good little sheep. BBBAAAAAAA.......
They screw us and we continue to take it.

Time to starve the beast. One man cannot do it alone but millions of small businesses can bring this govt to its knees by refusing to send another cent to the IRS. We need to organize.

NPR's predictably condescending response to the story:

Was $105 Billion Really 'Hidden' In The Health Law?

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) says she was shocked – shocked – at what she only recently found out about last year's health law.

"There is a Congressional Research Service report that just was issued in February, and we discovered that secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the Obama care legislation to fund the implementation of Obama care," she said Sunday on Meet the Press. "This is something that wasn't known."

Really?

Ridiculous, say Democrats.

For one thing, the report to which Bachmann referred was an update of a report originally issued last October.

For another, the money was clearly spelled out both in the bill and in the Congressional Budget Office's estimate of its cost. "Michele Bachmann obviously didn't read the bill, because there was absolutely nothing hidden in that legislation," said Illinois Democrat and Chief Deputy Whip Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who serves on the House health subcommittee.

In fact, said Schakowsky, $40 billion of the $105 billion now at issue is for the Children's Health Insurance Program. That's hardly something that flew under the radar.

Excerpt.

The ‘rats have been reaping our country’s money and stashing it in their elitist off-shore coffers for 40 years or more. Why should zer0 be any different?

” No Congress can compel actions of future Congresses.”

The RAT’s killed that idea as soon as they recovered from their 9th of April 1865 defeat.

Maybe congress should pass a bill that says voting for a bill with such deceptive and unconstitutional language would constitute a “high crime” and that any congressman who casts such a vote would then qualify for impeachment. Maybe that would make them think a little bit more seriously about “passing a bill so we can see what’s in it”.
