You don’t have to look far to find “stupid” or “dumb” remarks about Sarah Palin. Whether it is comments in online editorials or people voicing their “stupid” remarks about her in youtube videos, you can always find some critical voice bewailing her alleged stupidity and lack of education.
But is Sarah Palin really as stupid as some people would like to think? Let’s take a look.
Governor Palin is the daughter of a school teacher. Of course, that alone would tell most people that having an educator for a parent probably ensures the child will end up with a good schooling. But for those who can’t make that leap, here are a few facts about her education.
Upon graduating from high school, Governor Palin was awarded a college scholarship for her academic success. She attended one year of college in Hawaii and ended up transferring to the University of Idaho where she finished college with a major in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. Yes, it took her five years to get her degrees, but she was paying for college out of her own pocket, apart from the scholarships she was awarded, and had to work a semester or two to make the money to attend school. After college, she returned to Alaska and landed a job as a weekend sportscaster at KTUU in Anchorage where she worked from 1987 to 1992. Not bad for a college graduate who is allegedly stupid.
During that time frame, 1988 to be exact, Sarah Heath married Todd Palin. Liberal or conservative, I think most women would agree that there was nothing stupid about that move!
Motherhood intervened, as it often does, but it didn’t slow down Mrs. Palin. In 1992, she ran for Wasilla City Council and won. She served on the city council until 1996 and then she ran for Mayor of Wasilla. After winning that race, she was re-elected again for a second term. In 2003, Governor Frank Murkowski appointed her to the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Then in 2006, she became the 14th person in history to unseat an incumbent governor. After soundly whipping Governor Murkowski in the primary, she went on to beat a popular former Democrat governor. Of course, everyone knows that Governor Palin was tapped to run as Vice President in 2008 with the Republican Presidential candidate, John McCain.
Looking back at Governor Palin’s political career, it makes one wonder how someone so stupid could have accomplished so much! Somehow, she managed to get elected to three different offices, appointed to a State Commission, and asked to run for the second highest office in the U.S. government, Vice President! She sure must have fooled a lot of people over the years, including a governor, a U.S. Senator, and all the people who ever voted for her. Oh, and let’s not forget that 90% approval rating she had as governor just prior to running as McCain’s V.P candidate. Does that mean 90% of Alaskans are stupid, too? If so, that includes an awful lot of Democrats.
Let’s take a quick look at her stint as governor. She reformed ethic laws, cut waste, and took on big oil companies, as well as the Democrat and Republican parties. The gas pipeline is now becoming a reality and she initiated a change in the state’s petroleum taxation system. And she cut spending when there was a surplus!

I guess only stupid people cut spending in a time of economic growth. It wouldn’t make sense to take the extra money and put it away for a rainy day.

Beyond her political career, Governor Palin has gone on to receive numerous awards, including the IGHL Award for Defending People with Special Needs, and five awards for defending the second amendment. I don’t think stupid people receive too many awards for being stupid, do they?
Then imagine this! TIME names Palin as one of the world’s most influential people. Why would a popular national magazine name a stupid person as one of the world’s most influential people? Surely, they got her mixed up with someone else!
And why did The Learning Channel (TLC) do an 8-part documentary featuring a stupid person? One can only guess why 5 million people would set a record for TLC just to watch Sarah Palin’s Alaska.
There’s no need to mention that she’s being paid to be a Fox News Commentator. Only the highest-rated and most-viewed news channel in America would be stupid enough to hire her!
Then, of course, there are all those crazy groups paying her to speak! What’s wrong with those people? Don’t they know she’s stupid? Just look at this very small sampling of speeches she’s given since 2009!

We must not leave out the fact that Governor Palin wrote two books and they both ended up on the New York Times bestseller list. Going Rogue was the second-fastest-selling political book in history upon its release, and by December 2010, America By Heart was second on that same renowned list. Hmm, I can’t think of too many stupid people getting published, much less making the New York Times bestseller list – twice! She couldn’t possibly have made much money on a couple - three million sales of her books, could she?
Sarah Palin was one of the most popular governors ever, and now her name is one of the most well-known in America. She's facebooking, tweeting, giving speeches, and writing books to get her message out. No doubt, she is making money hand-over-fist. Upon reviewing her list of accomplishments, it makes one wonder just how stupid she really is.
As the saying goes, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
