It doesn’t matter what the GOP goes for, the charges are aways the same. They need to go for bigger cuts. They are going to expend significant political capital on a very small reduction in spending.

Also by cutting specific things, they opened themselves up to the usual attacks. They needed to do an overall across the board reduction, focused on wastes, repetitive programs, and a shift closer to zero-based budgeting to justify each and every program within each department. Allow the committees to examine specifics, and force the bureaucracy to make some of the decisions themselves. Oh well. Our side never seems to know how to play the game.

Simply enact the 2008-2009 budget.

I agree with you.We should be doing a 40% across the board cuts to all departments let each decide what is important and what is not.
